up-graded or top of the line

Hi, I am new to airsoft.
I am a electromechanics, (and french so please do not take offense of syntax error).
Sorry, I did not read all the post and response available on this forum (yet), but I did a couple of search .
I don't have a gun, and start to shop around.
Since I am probably going too modify all the inside (professional deformation), could I use a lower quality gun (with a strong casing) and turn it too a top of the line one?

In other words, is a low too mid quality fully upgraded gun could perform like a top of the line with light alteration?

I assume you are talking about AEG's here.
It depends on what you are calling lower quality gun. If it's something like $50 wallmart gun than don't even bother. If it's something like DBoys or Cyma, you want to redo all internals to your own liking and can afford the parts than why not? Those things already come with metal externals for the most part. IMO it'll perform as good as higher end guns. Keep in mind, external look of lower end guns might not be as good/detailed as more expensive ones, same goes for quality of material used.

The end product is only as good as your base.
You can't put $10,000 into a honda civic and call it a ferrari

Best start with a G&P or king arms

Always start with a good base.

But you can put a bunch of money into an Acura NSX and call it a clone of a Ferrari. http://izismile.com/2009/10/05/how_t...x_20_pics.html

@ OP: Buy off the shelf and "validated" stuff. It's not worth the effort and trouble unless you're really really interested in doing tech work. At least if you have 2 guns (one off the shelf and another project gun) you can tinker with one and break it and fix it and stuff while you have another backup so you can play next gameday.

even if its a 800whp civic?
or what if i put an 800whp honda motor into a ferrari?

To the OP id suggest start with at least a mid range gun, echo 1 g&p maybe even a cyma, use it untill something breaks and reppace upgrade as needed.
unlesd you have a tonne of disposable income then just buy a systema and some spare electronics for if they fail and call it day.

top of the line guns still need some amount of tuning, budget for it.

You can take a cheapo gun and have it perform really well. In any one instance, it might take a lot of work/parts/etc...it might not take much. In general though...the end result is usually "nicer" if you start with a mid-high range base.

The difference will be in the general fit/finish of things, (fewer) compatibility (issues) with other parts, etc...

With the "lower end" stuff there's some models that are really quite good...but others that are just crappy. There's more consistently decent models with better manufacturers.

G&P, King Arms, VFC....they're all reasonably priced.

AK's would be a great one to start with...they're very solid...a straightforward/simple assembly. Compared to an M4. you'll spend less time with fiddling getting the mechbox in/out of the body and more time fiddling with the mechbox where you can tune things however you want.

Don't start with odd-ball guns like a FAL/Thompson/etc...

I'll rephrase.
Having a toyota RVX-06 in your honda civic does not make it a formula 1 car.

But in airsoft, even the F1 cars need upgrades lol

But you can get close. Ariel Atom. Not a Honda per se but it started with a Honda power plant. I digress...

In airsoft, the F1 of guns need upgrades and they get expensive!

poor guy. thought he was buying an airsoft gun not a car. anyway if you are into all the upgraded stuff RA Tech is something to look at if you are ok with gbb instead of aeg. most recommend aeg for first gun but nothing feels more real then a gbb, or sounds better
