I recently picked up an AK74U and I wanted a different look from the regular wood and black. I am a fan of the Beta Project AK and I was looking along the same lines and setup. I was originally going to paint it myself, but I just didn't like the durability of a spray can application. I looked at doing some powdercoating, but many of the powdercoat businesses were either not interested in small batch work or were too far for me to travel. I read through a couple of car forums and I stumbled on to Quy's Coatings. He was in the Brampton area and I read of a lot of good reviews from him. He does a lot of car rim powdercoating for the car tuner community and also industrial pieces. I contacted him with my project and he said no problem to bring down the pieces. He met me out of his regular business hours (on a Saturday), which really impressed me. Most companies won't go out of their way to open up for one person. Quy and I went through the pieces and the project and he said it would be ready in a week. Since this was his first Airsoft piece, I walked through all the points that needed to covered due to the powdercoat layer possibly not fitting after application. We agreed on a price and I expected the pieces the next week. I received a call 2 days later saying the project was done. I wasn't expecting such a fast turnaround. I picked up the pieces and they were exactly what I wanted. The powdercoating is very tough and resistant to wear, exactly what I needed. Quy was very accommodating and helpful, his prices are fair and the quality is excellent. The pics of the finished work are on the AKstravaganza forum. His website is
