Hi guys, this is the first review I've ever done, so criticism is accepted to help me where I left out points and what I didn't cover enough.
A few months ago, I bought a Plate Carrier from Sord Australia (
www.sordaustralia.com) - the SORD Plate Hanger in Multicam. These guys make and design kit for various forces, but mainly the ADF - Australian Defence Force, These guys started out as a Special Operations Research and Development group for gear, hence where the name SORD comes from. Alot of their gear has been issued to the Australian army, contributing to the Tiered TBAS System.
Getting to the point, the SORD Plate Hanger was designed as a minimal low profile modular plate carrier by a member of the SASR for sniper and various other operations in Afghanistan, so it could provide all the protection of a Plate carrier, but the minimalist of a chest rig.
The Plate hanger has 6x6 Rows of molle on each side of the carrier, providing enough space for mag pouches, a radio pouch, a small admin panel and a hydration carrier or Yote pack on the rear. There is enough webbing to change the fit of the carrier from a S to XL person using YKK Buckles (If that even makes sense?), As for the shoulder pads, they are very comfortable, with soft foam padding on the underside. The inside of the carrier is a padded mesh which expands when theres a plate inserted, giving your chest breath-ability, and spine comfort (You dont feel it sticking right in to the plate).
I personally love this plate carrier, and wouldn't swap it for anything else. It's extremely well made and very comfortable, and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a Medium cut plate carrier at a cheap price ($99.00).
The Plate hanger is available in SBC (SORD Base Colour, Coyote Tan), ATACS AU, DPCU (Auscam) and Multicam at
SORD Australia or
SORD USA
