Custom FG42 (type 2) - Require feedback/ideas/advice
Hey All!
I do a bunch of reenacting with the guys over on Ontario Airsoft WW2 reenacting, and Im rocking a Fallschirmjager impression, but the only thing missing is an FG42 airsoft gun. That being said, I also do a ton of 3d printing, and I figured I could custom build (3d print) my own working fg42. I started the build last month, and could really use some ideas on what internals I should use, gearbox, hop up, internal barrel... ect ect... The 3d printed receiver will be designed more like a shell to hold the gearbox/hop up/internals... The problem Im having is deciding what to use. Keep in mind the receiver is rather narrow, I could cheat it if something was a close fit but is there a good narrow gearbox out there that you might suggest? Any advice is good advice! Thanks for looking! Here is a link to my current build, which I will be moving here for more help/advice. http://www.ontarioairsoftwwiireenact...er=asc&start=0 |

If you can afford it: new TM high cycle gearbox, performance are amazing out of the box!!! Trigger response, rof, reliability...Yes you ll "waste" a aeg to get one, but may as well put good mechanic in such a great project. Look good btw!!

Check out this forum. I think there is another thread or two on there with more in depth DIY builds and pics.

@Long_bong: Thanks! But I plan to use an affordable gearbox, one that anyone can buy and use in this kit. My kit will be made available to anyone that wants an FG42 Type2
@Rainer: Thanks! I have that build saved, as well as the other type 1 custom build. I did consider using the stein gearbox, but a friend of mine suggested to try with the m14 gearbox first (better quality)... |

How do you guys feel about dropping a Version 6 GB into this thing? I'm looking for a gb with good range and something that's affordable?
I have another friend suggesting a V3, any comments regarding quality? |
