Dried Paint and A Barrel Nut

Alright ASC, here we go. It's either A) I'm retarded or B) This shit's fo real.

Here's my problem:
I've got an M4, today i wanted to install a free float ris, problem is that the barrel nut is some stuck on to the upper by what i'm guessing is paint seeing as my rifle is painted. I've gone counter-clockwise with the wrench, i've tried goo-gone...this thing WILL NOT budge. Now, I beg you ASC to help me figure this shit out. What are your tips and tricks when you deal with this barrel nut?

Side note: should this be in gun doc's forum?

My camera's hella shitty (Ask my team mates lol) but It's just your run o' the mill delta ring and barrel nut assembly. It looks EXACTLY the same lol

In lieu of skype working.. my suggestion would be your barrel nut wrench, a tube fit over the handle of the wrench to act as leverage, and a bit of heat or even drowning it in liquid wrench for a bit.. ascertain whether clockwise, or counterclockwise threading first, of course.

Be gentle, don't want to snap the receiver..

I'd keep the gearbox in there to keep things braced while you do so, if you try it non-heated...

Do you know what brand it is?

Is it new? Is it used?

Is it meant to come apart?

If it's plastic I'd avoid putting a torch on it.

If it was me I'd track down some vice blocks and secure the upper receiver with those before going at it with a chearter bar or shovels and rakes and implements of destruction.

Clamp down the upper, use a proper armor's wrench with a extension. If the delta ring is factory tighten, the shim they use could be crushed and wedge the barrel nut to the threads of the receiver. If that's the case, only way to remove the delta ring is to cut it. No torquing or heating will remove it without cracking the receiver. Look down into the gap between the barrel and barrel nut. If you see a shiny piece of metal, that's the shim. If it's deformed than it's wedged.

Here's my post on how to clamp and removing the barrel nut. http://airsoftcanada.com/showthread....ght=barrel+nut

Exactly what he said.
King Arms M4s are notorious for difficult-to-remove delta rings.

Thank you for everyone for the help. I managed to cut the delta ring, and cut out a segment of the barrel nut. Pried it out and then when it came loose it was easy from there. Again thank you everyone!
