KJW KP07 Right Side Safety Not Working
HI Everyone,
I have a KJW KP07 1911 MEU. It has the ambidextrous thumb safety on it however mine the right side thumb safety has become so loose to the point where the safety cannot be engaged from the right side, must be done from the left, The safety once engaged from the left can be taken off safe on the right side, but not put on safe using the right side safety (Side note: The left side safety and grip safety work fine). I'd like to have this fixed. I'm not GBB person and I know next to nothing about pistol internals. Any Advice on how this could be fixed would be greatly appreciated. Cheers |

I can't remember which safety side is the female side and which safety side is the male side but usually, when the right safety fails like that, it most cases either the male or female (or both) interlocks have worn such that the right safety just basically spins around and not catch the left safety interlock. (I'm confused but what I just said....But I'm sticking to it.) The best way to fix it is to McGuyver some added packing to either interlock side so each can properly lock on to each other. That, or you can pimp out your gun with some nice, new and shiny safety levers. OR you can just send it to ILLusion. He'll know the proper course of action...

It might be possible to gently crimp the prongs on the right side, but word of caution, pot metal wil break easily.
If it is really worn down, you could make a new connector bar from a small piece of steel. Requires cutting slots in both the left & right side, perpendicular to the original slot. I used this technique to fix another of my ambi safeties that were broken. In this case the prongs on the right side were broken off, so it was the only option .

If I remember correctly, KP07 uses a triangular hole and pin to transfer the motion.
You can't really fix potmetal. But you can install upgraded aluminum or steel parts for TM Hicapa 5.1 |

Actually, the KP07 doesn't use the triangle, it has the two prongs and the slot.
My old KP07 safety is on top with one broken prong on the right side safety(top left in photo). ....but as mentioned above, the most durable option would be to get a higher quality replacement. Nova has some really nice steel ambi safety sets(quite expensive), Guarder has an MEU safety in steel which is a bit more affordable, but you'll need to buy the steel connecting bar separately (or make your own).
