Smuggling Airsoft guns (not really)
Hey folks,
This is probably a stupid question, but, I'll ask it anyway: Would I have the same problems trying to drive across the border from the US to Canada, carrying an airsoft gun that I had purchased in the US as I would shipping it from a US site? I ask because I'm having a heck of a time finding an FN F2000 in Canada, but, tons of US sites carry them. I have friends in the US I could ship to, and it would be a simple matter to drive down there, pick it up, and drive back. I suspect, of course, that they would just make me get rid of the thing at the border. Thought I'd check, though! |

As CBSA is CBSA. Same importation laws apply regardless of if you're driving or the UPS man is driving.
Just this way you're putting that check in the box that reads 'YES I AM AVAILABLE FOR A CAVITY SEARCH'

If you buy a gun and take it over the border, don't try to hide it from CBSA, make sure the gun shoots more than 366fps with 0.2g BBs (maybe ask the store staff to test fire it and change the spring if required). Just in case I would have a print out of that CBSA note that tells the new limit is 366fps now.

I know 10 sites off hand that have them. Also I know where one is new in box for reasonable price.

Appreciate the info. I'm hoping it won't come to that, but, we'll see how things go.
Also, j_march, if you know 10 sites that have them in stock, please feel free to PM one or all of them to me. It would save me a lot of time and effort. Thanks! |

How much sand CAN you fit in your vagina!?

Smuggling anything is a felony. Even toilet paper could land you behind bars for a long time and restrict future travel.

Yeah, the smuggling part was sarcasm. I was not actually implying that I would attempt to smuggle guns across the border. I was just asking if driving across with one that I had purchased, and declaring it, would cause the same problems as shipping it.

Any Canadian store worth their salt will be able to get you an FN2000; you just have to pick up the phone and make a few calls.

Probably true. I should point out that I'm looking for an F2000 Hunter, the one with the built-in scope. It seems to be harder to get.
I was also told that there were some licensing issues with the FN trademarks, which was making them difficult to get? I don't know if that's true. |

Even if you're from out-of-province, they'll ship via Canada Post. I may be wrong, on that bit, however. |

It wasn't out of stock last week. Just keep checking every week or so. I saw the same one on Toronto Airsoft, and considered it myself.

You could always buy a FN 2000 cheaper on the forums, and purchase the hunter scope separately will probably be the same cost in total. it is a completely modular rifle, should just slide right in no problems.
