DD MK18 in FDE
So I want to pick up a DD Mk18 RIS II clone in flat dark earth but am having a seriously hard time finding anything, the best that I could find is Madbull's one but the color is completely off from the real rail. Some stores have a picture that matches the FDE and others look like a bar of copper. Dose anyone know where to get a decent clone in the proper FDE preferably with markings? the only 2 madbull ris ii I could find is
https://www.hotspotairsoft.com/MADBU...ddmk18-9de.htm (looks close to the right color) https://www.powair6.com/en/ris/1338-...esert-tan.html (Bronze look) |

I've owned both so I'll offer what know:
AFAIK the Madbull Mk18 rails and SOPMOD Block II rails sold individually as upgrade parts come in the brighter/shinier bronze colouration. The Madbull Mk18 rails produced for VFC and sold attached to their Mk18 AEGs have a noticeably darker/flatter colouration, at least the 2015/2016 versions of that rifle (not sure about any newer versions). Occasionally you'll see a Madbull Mk.18 rail that's been taken off the VFC rifle for sale on the parts classified section (IIRC there was one sold earlier this summer), but more commonly its the upgrade version with the brighter colouration. As far as which is "correct" I think its a matter of personal preference. I know that the colour of anodized parts can differ batch to batch and some firearms manufacturers make disclaimers about this on their product pages. Most of the reference photos I've seen of military Mk18s & M4 Block IIs have a darker rail. If you check the Daniel Defense website though you'll see a noticeable colour difference between their M4 & Mk18 rails (which I think is the actual colour of the anodized material and not just a difference in lighting of the photo). If I had to make a guess it'd be that the military requested the darker flat colour, and then after the product specifications were changed slightly before going into commercial production resulting in a slight colour change. Just a guess though. I happen to think both colour variations are cool. Like you I prefer the darker one though, its certainly a bit more uncommon from what I've seen shopping around for parts. If you're looking for the full VFC rifle airsoftdepot has them in stock on their site, and the colour looks to be the version you're looking for.
