Systema Red Piston
Ok I read the information about the "old red" Systema pistons and how they cause premature wear. But not too long ago I read a thread and someone said there was nothing wrong with them it was just that they were installed wrong. They then said that Systema then created a "dumbed down version". What I would like to know is how do you properly install the old version or is it that the Systema piston needed to matched up with a certain gear set?
Well I am getting the Systema Professional FTK and Rangers told me it came with a red piston. Now I haven't asked which of the two pistons it was because it does not matter which one it is if I can install the old one right anyways. Thanks |

Pretty sure all red Systema pistons available on the market now are the new type.

as harleyb said.
But if you do get the old piston, just make sure that if you're using a spring guide with bearings, stick to shorter springs (ie avoid PDI 150%... good springs would be top power, systema springs, prometheus springs) and DON'T use the stock piston head. That's what usually fux it all up because the piston head's nut was so thick, it added far too much preload to the spring - when the spring bottomed out, the gears still wanted to go and the result was a grinding of the teeth since the extended final piston tooth adds even more preload. |
