Guarder C8 trades = NOICE!
My C8 order has finally arrived. Unfortunately my real camera isn't here so my ability to shoot pics isn't the greatest so only one decent pic out of quite a few tries. Man I miss my DSLR right now.
BIG IMG ~ 56K BEWARE The trades are very nicely done. I'm not sure what technique Guarder is using, but I suspect that their trades are more nicely done than in the real steel which is kind of funny. They're not superficially splatted on with ink or laser frying of the black anodize. The trades are deeply etch with what I'm guessing is laser ablation. The shoulder of the trade is too sharp for stamping. The ends of the serial number and the corners of the Diemaco trade are too sharp for them to have been milled. In any case, they look really nice. Surface finish is a very nice matte finish. I note that the finish on their different model receivers is different. The Colt M4 and HK rec'rs have a slight gloss to them. The M16 and Diemaco rec'rs are matte. I am investigating the mechbox fitment issues, but off the bat, a stock TM gearbox shell seems to fit just fine. I have to try a built mechbox to be sure though. So far, I've put in a stock TM box and a ICS shell in without any problems. The fit is a bit tight, but nothing I haven't seen with SystemA or CA metal uppers. I'll have to try with a fully built AEG to know for sure though. Mags go in ok too. They fit with less jiggle than we're used to with TM bodies, but it's not an unreasonable fit. I've got a quite a few of these of rec'rs so I'm looking into well worked out solutions to fitment issues.

Sweet looking body Carl, looking forward to hear the rest of your thoughts on fitting, and once you get a chance to setup a full gun with one.

not yet. I kind of doubt they will as the C8 is not a huge seller for them it seems. I was lucky to get in on this run of C8 rec'rs. Last time they only made 1 run and were out of stock for about a year.

The old release zipped out of stock really fast. I tried to get some in, but wasn't quick enough.
If these things move well, I might be able to get Guarder to do a custom laser run if I can catch the next run. Laser ablation has a very low setup. It'd be cool do do so special rec'rs with actual issue serial numbers. Heck, I buy quite a fair bit of Guarder stuff. I might be able to sweet talk them into doing serial numbers for airsofters who also have an issued C8 so you can have the same number for your ASG and your rifle.

Any hope they'd do a stamped Colt M16A2 military lower with a flat-top M4 rail upper? Or even M16A3 or A4 lower...

I've got M16 rec'rs but only ones with the carry handle. You might be able to trade uppers with someone who wants a carry handle but want's a lower which normally comes with a flattop.

Hey, Carl, I offer my M4 for the full assemble test of the C8 body, I wanted to get a body from you anyways, so this way, I'm sure to get it ;P
(It's SRC though, not 'exactly' the same as a TM, but pretty damn close)
