shipping guns out of the country?
I have a buyer who wants to buy one of my guns, but he's located in the UK. Should I expect UK customs to confiscate it?

Usually much cheaper in the UK.
As long as it is under 1J, it should make it. Are you sure they check the exported parcels? |

Jeesus....it's like the noobs leading the noobs around here some days. Kid's right. As long as it conforms to their regulations (under 1 Joule) you'll be fine.

Provided the VCR Bill hasn't been enacted (it hasn't, yet anyways), and the power is below 1J (someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that ~320fps with .25?)

I think the import laws in the UK are a little more liberal than they are over here. My gf's family is from Newcastle, and her uncle is a "senior" customs officer over there. I asked him about this last time I was over, and he didn't think they (the UK) would seize things coming into the country, but he said that it depends on the country's import laws if I was to ship out of the UK. I asked specifically about airsoft because I thought he might be able to help me get airsoft items into Canada. (He couldn't, incidentally.)
You probably won't have any trouble getting it into the UK... but I hope the other guy's paying the shipping. |

Customs shouldn't mess with you on the way out.

I had a Star UMP seized last april, I asked them if I could ship it back to the originating sender and they said replica guns are not allowed to be imported or exported from the country and that it wasnt an option. The gun was trashed, so my guess would be no if you were trying to export an item. Somebody correct me if im wrong here... but I have the documents stating the procedures taken.

EXPORTATION OF REPLICA FIREARMS
10. (1) For the purposes of section 39 of the Act, an individual shall declare a replica firearm that they are exporting either in writing or orally. (2) The individual shall declare a replica firearm by providing the following information: (a) the individual's name, address and telephone number; and (b) a description of each type of replica firearm and the quantity being exported. It says nothing about not being able to export a replica. However a detained firearm can only be disposed of in the following manner. DISPOSAL OF DETAINED OR FORFEITED FIREARMS 14. (1) For the purposes of subsections 40(3) and (6) of the Act, a customs officer shall dispose of a detained or forfeited firearm in the following manner: (a) by offering the firearm to the chief firearms officer of the province in which the firearm was detained or forfeited or, if refused, to the Registrar, for destruction, or for any scientific, research or educational purpose, or for its preservation as a historical firearm, but in no case shall they be sold; or (b) if the persons referred to in paragraph (a) both refuse the firearm, by having the firearm destroyed. (2) Before disposing of a firearm, a customs officer shall advise the Registrar of the firearm detained or forfeited and of the proposed manner of its disposal. *****EDIT***** Found this as well. 39. An individual may export a replica firearm if he or she declares the replica firearm to a customs officer in the prescribed manner. |
