Came in handy to haul Kokanee's broken butt out of the LZ's CQB area and down to TC's house to wait for the ambulance! Great addition, was used very well by the 'Gun Runners" at Quandahar Dawn a few weeks ago, very cool to have actual military vehicles around (even if they are crap but run), adds to the air of the place.

Interesting. How much does an Iltis go for these days? 20-40K clicks tops, not used much.

I remember being in CFB Meaford and hearing you could get 2 for 5000 bucks, one for driving and the other for parts :P

The few prices I've heard tossed around is between $2k and $4k, depending on condition and what comes with it.

I've heard they arent insureable. At least in BC. Unlike the old 2 and a half tons which can be, its a shame these arent. I cant recal the speific reason though.

They can be insured, but it's tough. Mark from A&A Surplus also sells surplus military vehicles, and in another discussion on the MAA boards he made mention that many of the Ilti (?) for sale have cracked or damaged frames that make them hard to pass government inspection. $3k or so is the going rate for one at auction put here, and that's not guaranteed to be in running condition. You pay a premium for that luxury.

Don't be fooled by the mileage, most of them probably have add-on mileage stickers onto the dashboard somewhere... For some reason, the mechs liked to reset the odometer every now and then... Remember those are 20 years old... Unless they directly came out of the "war reserve", wich would justify such good condition and low mileage... Man did we ever push them to there limits doing Recce! Good times...

Apparently Canada has only been surplusing their Iltises (Ilti?) after they've been absolutely driven into the ground. German and Belgian Iltises cost around 10000+, but are in alot better condition.
