Well I appreciate you taking one for the team - there are growing number of new players out there who don't take the "disregard al but marui, ca, ics, g&p, g&g" mantra, and look to save a buck. This is testament to why we have to keep repeating it, a new guy is likely to get suckered in trying to save money.

Yeah, what the hell is with the strange "i dont want to go pro, just get somethin to see if i like the sport" mentality? There's no "pro", there is however a minimum level of acceptability with guns. Otherwise it's like someone trying to get the feel of mountain biking with a tricycle.

It's mostly player coming in with previous paintball experience that bring those sentiments. In tourney PB, success is determined as much by skill as it is by how much you spend on gear. They see "pro" teams winning tourneys with $2k guns and 1K worth of gear and sponsored paint and realize that if you want to win in the highest levels of tourney paintball, you have to spend that much, too. They usually realize this when they get hosed with their $200 Viewloader marker from CTire. They have the impression that since you can dick around with your pals in your backyard with $200 markers, you should be able to do the same with a $200 softair gun.

S.I.R. Sporting Goods is about the biggest outdoor store in Manitoba. They carry a bunch of softair, and our local association (MAA) has been very vocal in trying to educate them about airsoft/softair. In the past they didn't often listen to what we have to say, though....profit is king.

Some of the locals buy these for shits-and-giggles because the local indoor airsoft park (xtreme-tactics.com) regularly hosts low-powered springer-only games. Airsoft takes on a whole new feeling when you need to start practicing immediate action drills because you KNOW your gun is a POS.....
