TM P226 Vs. KSC USP
Hey guys,
After much dileberating and trying to try out both guns... I have found the two that suit me best. I really like both guns, looks wise. I haven't been able to hold or shoot the KSC USP but I have been able to shoot some other KSC models and was impressed. When holding the TM P226 I felt that it was really light and not as solid (compared to my friend's TM Hi-Capa 5.1). Although I will most likely get an ACTION or Guarder Metal Kit for the P226 if I get that. Although it did shoot well... just didn't feel as good as some others guns (feel wise). I love the USP also... but like I stated have not been able to hold one or shoot one. The questions... 1. Which will preform the best? Accuracy, range, internal consistency... etc. 2. Which is the most durable externally. 3. Should I invest in metal slides/frames for either of the guns? I will be using green gas (propane to be precise). 4. Which will last the longest internally with propane. 5. I will be using a sidearm for skirmishing, be it as a backup weapon (when I am unable to use my primary, be it out of ammo, inside the MED's, pistol games... etc), so which is overall the better skirmish sidearm? Thanks, -Blink P.S. yes I see the thread with the USP info and I have searched... just letting you know

I personally own a TM p226, and sware by it. I wouldn't upgrade it, unless your feel you really have to do it. Shooting stock on propane has been fine for mine. I might put on a metal outer barrel however, and a tight bore barrel it tighten up the groupings a bit. Other then that, I would invest your cash into spare mags and a good holdster and a pistol lanyard. The KSC will probably last you longer externally, but I know that I like my weapons to show ware and personally on the outside.
Not a game goes by where I don't empty all of my mags every round, and I plink a lot in my basement. I have probablly put 8000 rounds through mine, with a majority of that with Propane, and it is still going strong. Just make sure you keep it well maintained, and it will treat you very well.

i don't know if there has been any problems with the full-sized USP, but the compacts triggers are definitely a weak point in the system. That's a risk you take with the USP. I personally have a compact, and I really enjoy everything about it. It has a great feel to it, fits my hand perfect. I haven't got much experience with other guns, beyond the g19, and a couple of others, however I definitely love my USPc.

I own a tw KSC USP .45, and it's had 3000 bbs through it, and it still fires nicely. Personally , I'd go for a hi-capa , or Sig because parts are more common, and mags are easier to find. If you buy a usp .45, you'll have a tough time getting metal parts/mags/what have you... whereas the sig has 40,000,000(not really) different aftermarket-slide/frame options..

A team mate had a USP and I wasn't impressed with it, felt like a cheesy toy. It eventually broke (no idea how, it just went after a few hundred rounds) and then disappeared (roommate) and he got another one, just because he had the mag for it sitting around. It never got gamed with. BTW, I'm spoiled with two hot accurate KSC G19s, so I'm biased towards the sharp snap when firing (as opposed to the sluggish and squishy blowback action of the USP and Mk23) and accurate feel of it. Besides, I tend to use heavy BBs in mine, up to 0.43g and get great range and accuracy out of them........ for a pistol anyways.
I AM impressed with the TM P226 though, if I wasn't so hot for my Glocks, I'd get one. |

i love my USP, there's nothing wrong with the trigger thank god, KSC must have fixed that and it's a hard hitter on propane (330fps for mine)
parts are a little hard to find, but i checked out Jugglez's new web store, and he has metal kits and spring kits for sale and for cheap. of course, i had to get mine from WGC and UNC. mags however, no one but 007 seems to carry them, that's where i got my spare 2 mags from... lol ASCA has a tendency to carry some guns without stocking their mags. my only problems with the 45 are that the mags leak after quite a bit of use and when it's stock, the recoil springs are pathetically weak. thankfully, $15 will get you the shooter's design 150% kit which works awesome. as for accuracy, maybe i got the good one out of the bunch because wherever my laser points, the gun will hit, upwards to around 60 feet man-sized and about 45 feet pop can-sized (i plink in my basement, it's about that length). I've also had a chance to try out the SIG at a few games and i was really impressed with it. i can't remember who i borrowed off of, but it was a full metal slide AND frame, and by jove, it felt ridiculous (as in good). shot just as far as my USP, but with better accuracy and since it had a Hogue grip, felt very nice in my hand. i'd recommend either gun, whatever comes first to you.

Ok my initial thought of getting one was the TM just because I had shot one with a Guarder Metal Kit and one without.
I liked it alot. Although I do have one question. When buying the TM P226 should I buy some replacement external or internal parts? I thought I remember reading about a part in the TM P226 that continually broke after heavy use. Anyways thanks guys for the informative posts, I think I will go with the TM P226! Thanks again, -Blink

If you run it stock, then leave it be. you might eventually need a metal slide or replacement stock one due to Propane use. but out of the box the TM P226 is pretty solid.
Then again you can always just do what I did and rebuild the gun basically from scratch by replacing everything possible with upgrades and stronger parts..... then again you wont be allowed to use in many places for CQb anymore as well.... but thats fine with me when it shoots better and farther then most peoples AEG's...... |
