An AEG is definitely going to be more expensive, but it's totally worth it.
The fact that the TM FAMAS will almost certainly be of better quality than the springer notwithstanding, the TM FAMAS is totally adaptable to many situations. The ROF on it is high enough to serve as LMG squad support in a pinch, and the bullpup configuration means that it has a longer barrel in a more compact frame making it more acceptable for CQB than larger counterparts. This also means it is more accurate than similarly sized guns and has excellent range. Sniping in airsoft is a really difficult endeavour; you're almost always outgunned and your gun is never as accurate as it's real-steel counterpart. I recommend getting a FAMAS and mounting a scope on it. That way if/when you find out airsoft sniping isn't for you, you have an AEG to fall back on. |

I have the TM FA-MAS. It's an awsome gun, I love it. My buddy uses it for the most part, usually in a support role. Why snipe when you can unleash a solid string of death that's next to impossible to avoid?

Go rent a gun the first few times, then you'll know what's good or not.
There's other things you have to do before you get a gun, but that's all in the FAQ section. |

Is it Sydney, Nova Scotia or Sydney in Australia?
Check the Teams section, divided by Province and also check the Games section. Plenty of contacts there. If you're not in Canada, cant help you at all. |

Why do you plan on being a sniper? It's almost as useful in airsoft as it is in paintball.

Then just ask other members in your province? If there is nobody there (which I doubt) and no games at all, then the best advice is not to buy the oldest gun model around.
There are threads about choosing a first gun, the information there should help you decide. |
