Is 100% silicone oil safe for any moving parts in any kind of gun? What about o-rings and stuff like that?

I heard RC Shock oil is good also, as long as it's 100% silicone.. Is this myth true?

Most people buy their oil from hobby shops, as RC Shock oil, because it's 100% sure to be safe for all airsoft parts, unlike the red silicon "PellGun Oil" sold buy Crosman that some claim has petro distilates in it.

Yes, silicone oil = RC shock oil as far as I know.
I have some 10 weight RC shock oil that I used to lube my guns/magazines.

Here's a question, if 100% silicone oil is good for just about everything, can you just use it, rather than bearing oil and gear grease? Take into account i fully strip my gun after each game.

No, silicon oil has it limits. It really doesn't work that well for metal-on-metal contact, it's much too thin for that and just gets everywhere if you try. For gears and such, stick to grease of appropriate type.

No, it's simply not thick enough to adhere to spinning gears and is modestly effective in sealing the piston o-ring, but gets wiped too easily.

Gear and cylinder greases are what is needed here. Cylinder grease should be silicone based so as not to react with silicone oil used fro barrel cleaning, hop-up lube, etc. Gear grease should be very sticky and can be any of a number of types of lubricant.

Now, you don't need to strip your gun down after every game. I only strip mine down if performance begins to suffer or if something should break. Repeated strip downs lead to stripped screws and screwholes, despite your best efforts to prevent it. Not to mention that assembly rarely is done as well by the user as is done by the factory.

You can get silison "oil" from 0.05 wt to 500K wt in RC...From bearing oils to diff locking oils and shock oils

I personally use 300K oil on the piston o-ring, then add a little 50wt inside the cylinder...works great

for gears, your are better with some lithium or ceramic based grease. High wt silicon could work too... but it does not stay on the gears well enought.

For bushings, some sewing machine oil is perfect, or some silicon based bushing oils for RC cars is good too... usually brown...

For bearings, the best thing I found is Trinity's Royal Oil. It is pink and works like a charm.

Mag lubing... I found that some 30wt silicon oil works better than lighter oils to be added in the propane adapters.

Slide: ceramic or lithium grease again.... silicon oils are either to light or too sticky to work well in there.

Good to know, I'll just stick with my lube kit till it runs out.
As for the stripping, i'll go a little easeyer on it, but its so fun to take apart and clean and put back together agan. I cant wait for something to break down so i can justify gear upgrads.
