Tokyo Marui M4 RIS?
I just order my Tokyo Marui M4 RIS yesterday from Power Edge USA and I was If anyone could advise me of any know defect's with this AEG and any after market parts that will fix these problems If my M4 should have them?.
I know one of the defect's some Tokyo Marui M16 and M4 had was the barrel wobble problem, I remember reading somewere that there's a part that will fix this. I also remember something said about the hop up units, but cant remember what was said. Thanks.

in that case haha nvm ..but as far as your question goes .. the only TM with a barrel wobble i found was and has been the sr-16 model ...but then i have more CA then TM so its hard to tell ...but the most solid TM ive had is the S-System

are you planning to leave the internals stock or upgrade them?. I'd throw a metal body and reinforced outer barrel on it. Thats what I did to my M4 and SR-16 and now they are solid as a rock.

Own the same AEG myself, only issue I experience was a little barrel wobble, easy fix if you upgrade to a full metal barrel. Its not like its a huge wobble just a tincy bit. I found nothing wrong with it aside from that. The PEQ that comes with it is a little cheap looking so you could replace that if you want to, or you can look into upgrading to a crane stock and having the battery housed in the stock of your gun instead.

Thanks for all the replys, I do plan on upgrading the gun within a year. I'll be using the following parts below unless I change my mind. Some of these I probally dont need for the sping I've listed, however I plan changing springs (a stronger spring) for different field fps rules.
For the most part, I will be using the M100 spring more then any other spring, however there may be some time's when I switch to a heaver spring. I'm looking for extreme long term reliability and durability with the M100 spring. Parts I'm planing on starting off with: Systema M100 spring Systema Oiless metal bushings Reinforced Spring Guide with bearing Piston and piston head (Aluminium Piston or Poly Carbonate piston with aluminium piston head or silent piston head, haven't made up my mind which one to go with) ICS Turbo 3000 Electric Motor or Systema Magnum Motor Gears (ICS M4 Reinforced Stock Spur Gears or Systema Helical Gears) Tight bore barrel

I've heard V2 Mechboxes can be reallly finicky once you start upgrading them. I'm leaving mine stock and just upgrading the V3 mechbox in my AK47, which I've heard take to upgrades a lot better.
Could be wrong though. |

Before you invest in a one piece barrel, check out the Doctor's Corner on this site. Easy fix and fun to do if you are somewhat handy w/ tools.
In terms of internals, stick to stock parts until you get a little more experienced. This is just to prevent injuries. If you plan on upgrading, start with metal bushings, piston piston head, ball bearing spring guide and maybe an SP100 spring. If you are moving to a stronger spring replace the gears as well with re-enforced set, maybe torque up gears to save your motor and battery life. Just my 0.02$

Would I be better off with a Aluminium Piston or Poly Carbonate piston to use In conjunction with either ICS M16/M4 reinforced stock spur gears or Systema helical gears and a Systema M100 spring with Systema magnum motor?.
I know with any upgrade's you decrease the life of the Aeg's parts, however as stated above, I'm looking for the longest In terms of reliability and durability. Thanks.

I'd go with a polycarb piston because if something goes wrong in your mechbox your just replacing the $20 piston instead of a piston and a set of gears. you may just want to look into a guarder or systema full tune-up kit since it sounds like your replacing almsot everything anyway.

Systema tune up kit wouldnt be to bad actually.
The v2 mech boxes that come as part of a stock Tm M4 RIS are decent but only for stock and maybe a little bit over before things start to get a little to powerful for it.

STAY AWAY from aluminium pistons... Stick with POLY.
Why replace something before it's broken? If you motor is still good, don't spend the money. Systema helical gears or Prometheus (which I will install in the next few days, but as per Illusion they are great gears). The Prometheus set has 5 slost for the anti-reversal latch to catch on. I have been running stock gears in 4 of my guns, the only time I shreded a set is when the gearbox fractured and lost a piston & a spur gear in the process. Then again, I pay a lot of attention to shimming (Thanks to Vondnik for sharing his knowledge with me). Quote:
