New JG MP5 a4 ris Metal Body

I just got my hands on the new Jg mp5 a4 ris. This thing rocks.
As soon as I got it out of the box, I was smilin hard.

It's heavier than my old marui mp5 even thought that had a large metal front to hold large batteries. Includes hicap, small battery, charger, rod, flashhider, manual, 200 bbs, scope mount

Front ris, lower and upper receiver are all metal. Front ris is so slim that the battery is held in the navy style foregrip. Sliding stock is rock solid and has 5 or 6 positions. Comes with a nifty looking scope mount that attaches to the front ris and will hold a tube or can be used for rough sighting.

Overall build quality is excellent. No rattles except the mag has the slightest movement. Better than my marui. The selector switch is the only weak point, as it tends to be with all the lower end aegs. But instead of being loose, this one is tight. Goes from safe to full well but semi is touchy. Semi is just for chrony anyway.

Haven't taken it apart yet but it sounds good. Loud. My silencer make a noticeable difference. Sounds cool.

JG says these do around 330 fps with .2s but I have fired many of these and they're actually all near 370-380fps out of the box. Chronied.
I took it to our normal range on the farm and if this isn't 380, it's damn close.
I know the range of my 408fps marui mp5 and this is hitting 10 feet less. And more accurately.

For the price, I have no idea why anyone would be buying marui and ca anymore unless there was a model jg and echo don't make.
And their lineups are growing fast.
This gun just became available in the states 2 weeks ago.
You should see what's coming next. (wink)

And for how much? And how interchangeable are the parts, seeing as how the battery's in the receiver?

Wait, sliding stock? I thought it was an MP5A4...

My mistake. a5. I haven't done a full teardown yet but it has a neckpiece that makes putting on my large metal ris from my marui mp5 impossible. For now.
The battery is in the foregrip. Holds a small. Pretty slick system. It allows for a very slim ris and holds together well.
U.S cost on these is around $160-80. They are new so some places may not have them yet.
I have a friend who is willing to get them here for a price.
In Canada cost will be around $330. They are on order. I got the last one.
For other JG stuff, check my post in the for sale forum

High rate of fire, comfortable, built in RDS or 3 rails, short enough to be carried really easy?

On the other hand, sling and mag issues are a big downer.

UPDATE.....

I took the gun apart last night to see what's in there and do some upgrades.
I was surprised to find that the metal body is the old type that needs to be pried apart, the box and lower receiver did not slide out the back.
The good news was that after taking off the ris and the inner barrel cover I found the body to be compatible with all front ends for mp5s.
The next surprise was that the wiring harness ran all the way from the box to the fuse. No connector at the back of the box, so you have to pull the wiring through. Very simple but unusual.

The gearbox had plastic bushings, not metal as I had been told and had stated earlier. I replaced those with metal oilless bushings.
The spring guide is metal but thinnish and has no hole at the end to make popping the box easier.Replaced with systema bearing spring guide.
The cylinder was smooth on the inside but the cutting around the port was cruder than I liked (slightly burred). Replaced with stock marui mp5 cylinder.
The piston, head, nozzle and tappet plates are all made of that white plastic.
I installed a deepfire piston with all Titanium teeth and a systema piston head with a better o-ring and bearing on the back with a custom hard rubber mount (indestructable).

I tried putting in a set of those new modify modular speed gears but the bushings would not fit properly so I stayed with the CA gears that are stock in jgs.

I did not see the over-greasing problem that used to be common in jgs.

I have yet to get it outside since the mods but I'm hoping for a bit more consistency with the long range groupings. They were not bad but not great before.

Mainly what I put in was to increase durability and consistency. Cuz I'm an ammo dumping whore.

Rate of fire is not very fast due to 1100 mah mini battery in foregrip.

Overall, I'm VERY happy with this gun. Even with $120 worth of new parts, it was still WAAAAYYYYY cheaper than a name brand gun.
