mp7 extended inner barrel

Hi guys,
I am looking at putting an extended barrel on my mp7 and i was wondering if i could use say a 300mm barrel instead of the stock 182mm. I plan on using a silencer to cover it and was wondering if there was some reason why it won't work that i haven't considered. oh yah i plan on using a barrel for a Marui Thompson.

thanks

i'm not sure about the limitations of the mp7 mechbox, but with regular aegs you wanna match pistin/cylinder to barrel size. That being said I hear that the aep mechboxes are a nightmare to work on.

yah i wasn't sure about the cylinder/barrel matching thin, the main thing i was worried about is whether or not the end where the hopup is is the same?

PDI makes a 242mm for MP7. I think you'll need to change your cylinder too to a non-ported. I don't think you can go beyond that size.

The way the MP7 connects to the hopup is different from regular AEGs so you'd either need to get a custom barrel (like the PDI specific MP7 models) or you'll have to mod a regular barrel. The MP7 mechbox is also different, by default the cylinder is not ported, it's also about half the length of a regular cylinder and about 3/4 the diameter.

I no longer have a MP7 but if I were you I would find the volume of air the MP7 mechbox can push before putting a really long barrel in it.

I own the PDI 6.01 242mm inner barrel and it works flawlessly in my MP7. The only other upgrade was the external 8.4 volt battery. It has never had a jam (KSC perfect bb's). And I use a silencer to cover the barrel. Check my sig for pics. The stock silecer adapter must be drilled out to allow the extended inner barrel to go through it.

I noticed a definate increase in fps and accuracy. A worthy upgrade for sure!

Good luck, let us know how it goes. I'm speculating that you'll see and FPS drop with the 300mm (due to non matching cylinder), but you never know. Keep us updated.
