Skladfin: What are you going to polish the inner barrel with? ALso do you have to clean the inner barrel before polishing it? I googled and many no scratch products came up and home made clening methods for stainless steel. Finally, is polishing the inner really necessary? I have the same barrel btw.

Wouldn't normal cleaning work?,once your polishing it,wouldn't you need to keep polishing it?.It would oxidize or something crusty like and affect you BB.

I'm not sure I could recommend using any polishing compound on the inside of your inner barrels... polishing compounds are generally fine abrasives that essentially scrape the surface to make it smoother (if it's rough).

Polishing compounds generally won't do as good of a job as a lapping process and/or coating process that changes the surface quality of the material. Although the core material of the barrels are stainless steel, the barrels have also gone through an electro-plating process to harden it.

If you're still intent on attempting to polish it, I'd recommend testing it on the outside first, to see if it does make it shinier, or if it dulls it. ... or if it even does anything at all against the hardened surface.
If it dulls it, toss the compound.

Also, when doing the inside, better do it in long, smooth strokes to maintain the same diameter throughout the entire barrel.

Speaking of plating, I wonder if anyone has ever thought of coating a barrel with titanium aluminum nitride?

I thought that was just plain old titanium nitride?
