Kokanee, did you have any problems installing the launcher? I have the same setup ( - the rubber pad) and i cant seem to get the launcher fitted correctly. I had to keep it a little farther forward, because I couldn't get it over the hand guard bump, as it were.
Also where did you pick up the pad? I'd love to get my mitts on one! (or 2)

Yes, I had to grind off the "wings" of the bayonet lug (if that makes sense) in order for the launcher to slide properly into place, as it is designed for the TM AK47 which has no lug.

Just discovered something interesting about my CA gun. Thing was having issues firing in FA, trigger would lock up or just click without actually firing. I've opened it up at the game today and removed small spring that pushes "leg - little part that is located under selector switch" down. Gun was not supposed to fire in semi without that spring but for some reason it works perfect in semi and full. I wonder why the hell they even bothered with that spring in the first place

That's right, in two days my SLR105 will have been mine for a whole year. I decided to do a complete strip of the entire weapon;

- Disassembly and cleaning/oiling of all external parts;
- Take mechbox apart, clean and regrease, check for wear; and
- Locktite all structural/mechbox screws.

A few things that I feel are noteworthy after a year of ownership/use;

- Zero wear on all mechbox components. Nothing. Nada. Zip. I'd estimate I put about 5,000 rounds through this AEG so far and everything looks like the day I bought it internally. This AEG is still barely broken in, but any problems should have made themselves evident by now in the form of wear on components, metal shavings etc. The grease inside the mechbox was of course, absolutely filthy. But the stock TM piston proved to be an excellent match with the CA steel gears and no wear on either.

- Loose screws on in front trunnion. There are two setscrews on the in the front trunnion (it's what the rear sight sits on for those not familiar w/ AKs) that press into the outerbarrel and hold it (and the entire frontend) in place. These had developed a habit of becoming loose and as such the frontend was subject to randomly trying to fall off. To remedy this I cleaned the screw threads and locktited them. Will keep an eye on this in the future, but should be resolved.

- Lower handguard is loose. No matter how many times I try to reposition the lower handguard it always remains slightly loose, with noticable play within it's retainer when grasped. The reason for this is that CA did not use a spring clip like those used in a real AK74. As pictured here;



I am referring to the metal clips at the front, which provide tension when compressed. To remedy this I'll be looking for the real part, or I'll have to fabricate a suitable alternative.

The above issues are minor niggles in an otherwise great AEG, and I'm pleased that no major issues have cropped up so far. Looking forward to another season of gaming with it.

hopefully this shows people that CA AEG aren't shit like they used to be. mine will be a year old in march. but i've probley put 3 times as many rounds have you though mine and still running strong.

Kokanee that gun looks great. I was wondering: do you think that a King Arms or G&P metal body would fit on? Incase i ever want to put proper trades on it.

I'm just wondering, if you're already going to go through the expense of an aftermarket metal body, would it not end up costing you less to buy a TM and fitting the metal body and a wood kit on it? The steel and wood CA SLRs seem to be quite a bit more expensive than the TMs (~$900 vs $600 formerly from A&A, if I recall correctly).
Buying second hand would obviously make a big difference.

It does have trades, they're Arsenal. Other than a "model slr-105, 6mm" they are correct.

If you really wanted to, I'd say no. The body isn't a "TM compatible" type.

Looks like a Guarder body, so one from their kit, or an Inokatsu kit should fit (not the bodies sold separately for TM's, but the ones that are part of their whole kit)

Would be quite a stupid waste of money to replace it over one line of text, as these bodies are rare and very expensive in Canada.

I am not really worried about the trades. I was just wondering if the metal bodiess are compatable.

A nice review Komrad Kokanee. I own the SLR105 A1 version and its a rock solid AEG. I'm planning to get the x47 conversion kit by ICS.
