AK Upgrade Question

Okay so I upgraded my Kraken to a full-metal/full wood G&P kit.

However, the only thing that doesn't fit, it the tiny little spring in the pictures I included as attachement. It is the ONLY spring in the front end piece, parallel and near the hop-up unit. The spring itself pushes back the steel rod that goes along the top of the receiver to put pressure on the button that locks the metal cover. The spring fit fine in the Kraken's plastic front end, but is slightly too big to the G&P kit, and it's locked in place -- e.g. there is no play in it, it doesn't 'spring'.

I've searched everywhere, but I can't find it as a replacement part on any airsoft site...anyone has any ideas?

Sounds like it's binding in the channel that's created when the front end is inserted into the main body.

You'll want a smaller diameter spring. Try a spring from a ball point "clicky" pen or a large/small lighter. Cut it down to size so that the coils don't bottom out when it's compressed. Fortunately you don't need a whole lot of pressure/play there. Just enough to keep the dustcover retaining button pushed back and enough forward movement to allow the rod to be removed.

Best of luck.

I'm looking to do the same thing in the next month or so, but didn't know G&P made this upgrade. Can one of you tell me where it can be purchased from?

I got it through a fully G&P '47 wood kit that also came with the front end. I actually have a 2nd G&P metal front end to spare since I bought too much stuff. Get age verified and then send me a PM, we'll talk business.

m102404 -- Great advice! I'll definitaly check that out to find a new spring -- Dremeling is a last option for me.
