AK-47 to Krinkov conversion
I have a stock TM AK47 and I'd like to convert it into a krinkov-like configuration. Before I get flamed, I do realize that real krinkovs are usually AK74s. I'm just looking to convert my AK47 into something that resembles a krinkov...
Which front end would you guys recommend? I can't seem to find SU style front ends at uncompany or WGC. I've noticed that some people actually make their own front ends... Are aftermarket triangle folding stocks available? I'm looking for the ones that install on the stock tangs. I have also seen people with underfolding stocks. Do these require heavy modifications to install? Any information would be appreciated. |

i got a cyma krinkoff front end from the parts section, came with the rear sight block, hopup, inner and outer barrel, front sight and muzzle break, keep an eye on the parts section, maybe you'll get lucky
*edit* forgot parts section was 18+ google maybe? it's not a restricted part so you might be able to import a complete front end, i have an mp5 tightbore and upgraded hopup in mine and it works great! Last edited by pusangani; August 27th, 2008 at 16:00.. Reason: oops |

Would you happen to know of any aftermarket krinkov front ends for an AK47?

hmm not as far as I can recall you could cut the outer barrel buy a shorter inner barrel, handguards and front sight and muzzle break all separately tho, it might not be cost effective though

There are many shortened AK-47's out there, especially in the middle east. I've converted mine to a short barrel and underfolding stock, and it's perfect for CQB.
Hell I've seen pictures of converted old AK-47 Type2 AKs with AKSU length lower and upper handguards, short barrel, triangle folding stock, etc. Not an airsoft one of course, but it may be doable.

Would you happen to know of any aftermarket krinkov style front ends? If aftermarket front ends aren't available, how would I go about modifying a normal length one?

I was watching a show on MSNBC last night about PMCs in Iraq...they had an armorer for one of the companies (Global Armour?) whose sole job was modifying AK's and PKM's for his PMC crew....they were cutting the barrels back to just in front of the gas tube, with only enough room to press on the front sight; virtually every one I saw had a folding stock. and some sort of RAS/RIS system and an RDS (EOTech and Aimpoint were the most popular).

What I did on mine was I cut the outer barrel off both ends and drilled a new set of holes. Both the gas pipe/port and front sight were replaced by a single TM Beta Spetsnaz AK front sight combo piece.
