As for being shot first. I never heard of that rule, but did ask one of my friends to shoot me at 15 feet when I first got my AEG to have a respect for it.
I thought it was video games?

Have to agree with this one.

Do swords count?

I was being a dink with my training Katana sometime last year, took the wrong stance and stabbed my leg. passed out in the nearby medicenter, got stiches, and a blotchy looking scar now.
But as for airsoft-I just shot my hand with a clearsoft springer, that and Boot for PDW had the noobs stand up to a firing squad to let us know just what it felt like. couple hits and a 1s full auto burst at ten paces; then the same with upgraded guns at fifteen paces

When I do get my own gun I hope to never be shot with it.

Do you have to get stabbed by your own knife?

Absolutely correct. We do this to all our "noobs" so they realize how much it can hurt someone else when they screw up. It really does change how they veiw mercies, semi fire, and hosing, because they are suddenly very aware, and wouldn't want a stupid accident to happen to them.
