The version 2 and version 3 mechboxes are different shapes. They also have a few different parts (i.e. spring guide, switch assembly, cylinder head, tappet plate, nozzles, trigger, etc...)) and the motor mount to the mechbox differently.
You can take a version 3 out of a different version 3 rifle (or a new mechbox) and put it into an AK. You can also take a version 2 out of a different rifle (i.e. M4) and put it into a version2 rifle (i.e. MP5). You cannot take a version 3 mechbox and put it into a version 2 rifle (i.e. take an AK mechbox and put it into a M4). If you don't understand the above...leave well enough alone and don't take anything out of anything. |

I was wounder as I have seen complete mech boxes for sale on some sites. They are all m16 m4 style guns, and I have an ak.

Look for an AK mechbox, it's that simple. And beware, as not all V3 will be a drop-in. Other guns like the G36 and Steyer AUG also use V3. Their internals are the same, but the externals like selectory and trigger assemblies are very different. If you want a drop-in mechbox replacement for an AK, then get one specifically for an AK.
