Just watching this vid doesn't impress me:
A built in mag?
I dunno, maybe your standards are higher than mine, but a one of a kind AEG, obviously built off real parts, is pretty fucking impressive.

yeah, it is a nice build project, and they are a unique looking firearm that's for sure. I myself would not want to use one. RS or airsoft version. I don't know how it made it into the field. Couldn't they come up with a better design, or back engineer some technology from the German MG34 or MG42
Like the BAR, not enough rounds in the magazine to be fully effective as an LMG IMHO.

Yeah, but a direct feed magazine has many advantages in reliability over a belt feed system. Also with the mag mounted as it is, the BAR and Bren can be picked up and moved easily, with most belt fed weapons it is far more cumbersome to jump up and run.

I don't know about you guys but I think the bren's are sexy. Albeit not very useful in the field.

My favourite airsoft gun that's not made in mass quantities so far is the VSS Vintorez (which is going to be one of my builds down the road when I get a bit more experience, probably after my M4 or G36K).

If he can make a pan style mag, that can hold a hundred real rounds.
He can call it a super hi cap.

There was a guy at the August 4th game at the old Flag Raiders out door field that had a custom made MG-34 and an FAL built off of a deactivated real-steel one. So if you're creative and have the right skills/tools, anything is possible.
