STAR L85 Project
So I have been reading ALOT to say the least. I like to learn from other peoples mistakes. So here is what I have learned:
Best bang for your buck if you like the L85 series: STAR. I liked the L85A2 (not the carbine) and have my eyes set apon it. I have learned that it's groupings is not very impressive and myself still bieng a newb, I decided to upgrade to a 6.03 barrel. Nothing crazy good, but better than the stock 6.06. I realized that the gun might be too powerful with this and have a velocity reducer in mind as well. If I'm missing something here, then please let me know! Now for where I need help. I've taken apart a STAR Dragon before (which is basically a M4) but didn't toy around with it's innards too too much. Where can I get a proper guide on removing the L85's barrel and installing the new one without destroying the gun by doing it all by trial and error? (And lastly, yes I know, not age verifyed, so that means 90% of you will be unwilling to help, but I am working on it and think I'll be verified within 2-3 weeks if all goes well. Whats wrong with arming a newb with knowledge before he makes his decision on purchasing a gun?) |

I have a STAR L85.. it shoots straight and hard out of the box .. I've done nothing to it and it out shoots most guns on the field..
For what you get out of a tightbore.. maybe 12FPS increase.. maybe.. slapping a Vreducer on it then will blow any accuracy gains you make. Get the gun.. run it .. then decide if you need to mod it.. I think you will find this gun is great out of the box.. if you can find one..

hmm ! I would suggest you go to ICS L85, I got one of those and game it last time, it's really stand out of most of AEG on the field especially the trigger respond but unfortunately, last game I broke a new gun again.

hmm ! The trigger assemble on ICS is quite different, I hope I have time to open it uup and show off to you guy.
The ICS L85 is pretty good. The reason it broke last time is because of me, I took the mechbox out without taking out the wire that connect to the motor, so the jumper on motor was bend and cut off. That's my bad but it's an easy fix. The rest of the gun are fine.

Thanks for all the help thus far! I have someone that says they can get one, and so after looking at all the ICS, G&G, armA and STAR versions, I have decided on the STAR.
The velocity reducer may not be needed after the upgrades, but then again, can't hurt to get one right? I think the one he showed me was a tokyo mauri velocity reducer and quoted me 55$ to get it to him. Should I ship around? I know 007 can get it for 10$ less, but if the buyer pulls through, might as well give him my cash. I'm also looking at a Madbull chrono to help me monitor my progress with the mods. I'm still looking for am basic instructional video or guide to help me with the barrel though. |

hmm ! you don't need that velocity reducer. The STAR L85A2 is much pretty like ICS L85A2 so basically you can just swap the spring. That's all you need to reduce the velocity.

Well just a little update, can't get the STAR anymore, so going to have to get ICS. Hopefully get it all and can play with it soon!
*Still wish I could get some vids on how to upgrade the parts, but oh well, guess I'll just muddle through it* |
