Re wiring Classic Army V3 Gearbox
So after a long wait, I get my Classic Army FN SA 58 OSW. I take it out for the first time to our Sunday Training. I get about 200 shots out of it. We chrony'd it. No worries. Then it just stopped. We thought it would be a fuze. Well, I have taken it apart and no fuze. The motor works fine, I jumped the terminals, just to make sure. I stripped and assembled the gear box. Oh that was fun. Not the gears or piston or missing teeth.
I am left with a wiring issue. So anyone tried to rewire a V3 mechbox? Is there a tutorial anywhere?? Will I need any special supplies?? I want to get this up and running for this Sunday. Any assistance would be appreciated. Juctim Omnimodo Michael |

Just a soldering iron and some wires, maybe a multimeter to test you wires to see if they are cut.

Yeah multimeter to help you test continuity, so you know if you have wired it properly, or if wiring is the issue. And then new wires and soldering iron and some solder (and flux if the solder doesn't have flux in it) to just redo the job.

Before you rewire it, I'd suggest you check the trigger contacts. They can separate causing the trigger to lose connectivity. Happened to my CA36 shortly after I bought it.

That is very true. Could also be buildup of scoring on the switch, although less likely since its new. But its happened to 2 AEGs for me before and sounds just like what you describe. Especially happens when using a bigger battery. All it takes is 2 minutes and a knife to scrape all of the scoring.

No scorching, It is a wiring issue, there are several spots on the wire where the casing is cracked/worn and there is exposed wiring.
I have decided to have it sent to the Gun Doc, just to make sure it is put back together properly, and wired properly. As this is my first AEG. But that being said, once I get it back I will be taking a course from Tys, next time he offers one, and I can get to it. Juctim Omnimodo Michael |
