AK 47 optic mount installation
Hi guys, I'm wondering how to install the side optic mount on a AK 47 metal bod. Do you just drill hole at the right place and pop rivet threw it? Thank you

I'd stay away from the pop rivets. Besides being a bit cheesy, you'll have material sticking through which will prevent the mechbox from sitting properly.
Your best bet is to position the rail where you want it, mark the holes, and drill and tap them. Once you've screwed the rail to the side, you can mark the length of the thread on the inside, and cut them so they sit flush. Don't forget to use some loc-tite. I'd also recommend you take some time and make sure your rail runs parallel with the barrel so you're not looking at the sky when you go to use your optics. M Edit: There are some pics in the gallery and on google images where you can see the proper location for the rail. Last edited by Murdoch; May 25th, 2009 at 17:32.. |
