Thanks for the reply,
Well again I must say, the gun's price was originally close to 200, neighbouring that of the Broxa and Kraken but was on sale for only 70 (I'm a sucker for deals) so I guess in a barrage of excitement as a cheap person I hastily bought it (oops?). I found a review of it on ASC and it deemed the gun relatively adequate(?) but I am definitely thinking about touching the internals and modifying it mildly. As for the downgrade of the spring, on Op-For and today's Game Day (for example) the restrictions say 400 for aeg's; is there a reason you recommend this spring replacement?

EDIT: WOW I think I just made a bad buy...apparently the Aftermath Stunt300 is NOT the same as the Lycaon...wow what do I do..N00B move.

Sometimes the best way to learn is to screw up. That's the exact same way I learnt that in stats when you're graphing things the independent variable ALWAYS goes on the X axis.

Anyways.... I guess you could just play with it until it breaks. The thing is that breakage is seemingly random so you could potentially get a "cherry" and it'll last for over 9,000 rounds but the lemon rate for guns like that is significantly higher and you might be lucky to get more than 100 rounds out of it (or it could be broken out of the box or last 500 rounds).

That said, IMO it's not worth it to replace the internals in that gun and it's probably better off as a parts gun rather than fixing things up.

As for the spring downgrade, remember FPS limits are just that LIMITS not a goal. It also puts less stress/strain on the internals which should slightly help with making it last longer. As well not all chronos read the same and there can be variance from +/- 30 FPS if using a cheap chrono (worst case, just look at some of the videos on youtube about some chronos from the same company that are the same model have variance of 15 FPS) or +/- 5 FPS if using a good chrono. That downgrade will also ensure that if the chrono is reading things 30 FPS high then you should be safe.

EDIT: Check this video from AirsoftGI out, they compare a Madbull Chrono against a "prochrono" (used in real steel apparently): YouTube - Airsoft GI - G700 and Madbull Chrono Test

Also note that FPS doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. It will increase your total range but effective range (where you can guarantee that you will be relatively accurate) is moreso a matter of hop up bucking/unit, inner barrel, and consistent compression from your piston/cylinder. Also, using .25g BB's when playing outside is also recommended, it will lower your FPS and total range but effective range is increased due to it being less affected from cross wind (remember, the concept of momentum from Science 10 or Physics 11 where heavier objects require more force to change it's vector).

PS: Go to PoCo Military, they'll get you sorted out.

I'm not sure why everyone is hating on JG. The JG MP5 would be miles ahead of the Aftermath Lycoan.

JG makes a decent gun now.

Wow I really shot myself in the foot there...although it probably wouldn't hurt all that much with a weak-ass piece of junk like the thing I just placed an order on. I've contacted shootsoft via email and hopefully I can sort something out and work a refund out.

Classic Army would be the way to go if i were you.

EDIT: Unless you were talking about the ICS/G&G
CA is still made in China. CA's external is rock solid grading it with an "A". I cant say the same with internals

IMO I rather get G&G or ICS mp5 and not CA right out of the box, out of those three.

Crunchmeister couldn't kill his JG MP5. after the mechbox cracked and dropped by about 10 fps (maybe more not 100% on that amount) he TRIED to kill it, would sit there dry firing it till the battery died but the one crack was all that would happen to it

JG GUNS ARE DECENT, 1000X Aftermath quality 1/2 (about) the quality of high end guns

Do you have any reasoning for this conclusion? Also see the post above me.

If it was just a random lemon you got, it isn't representative of every JG.

Styrak has a JG MP5 for sale. Get age verified and buy from him. His prices are parallel to none. Also, Broxa is a sh*t gun.

Which model? I do realize that all the JG MP5 models are internally identical but I'm just wondering what your preference is.
M5-A4 or M5-S6 which is better?

neither is "better" it all depends on what you like the look of. I wanted a full stock and dont care for the integrated sound suppressor so i went with the A4
