the 7.62 could go a hell of a lot farther then 300m. The effective range has been rumored to be around 400m, but thats all limited by the rifle itself, the 7.62 round can have an effective range well over 1,000m.

so your right if your saying the AK47 effective range was around 300m
but your wrong by saying the 7.62x39mm is only effective to 300m, since its well documented to be used in guns such as the SVD at +1,300m

the 5.45x39mm is better suited since it has a higher initial velocity, but less stopping power.

Look at AK rear sights. They are calibrated to 1000 meters. I still remember that from high school

The SVD uses the 7.62x54r, and that's comparable to 7.62 NATO.
Otherwise you are prefectly correct. The 7.62x39 is nothing to sneeze at and is quite capable of being effective at over 300 meters in the right gun.

Dunno if this is true, but I read that the AK74 was initially chambered for the 5.45mm but Nato or the UN found the rounds to be inhumane in that they were constructed to intentionally tear apart the insides of soldiers so they were forced to chamber the 74's for the 5.56mm.
Apparently the 5.45's would start to tumble when they entered the body and tear it up whereas the 5.56's just break apart when they enter the body and tear it up. The difference is that the 5.45's were designed to do this and the 5.56's were not but they just happened to do this.
Like I said, I read it and dunno how much truth is behind it, but I haven't really heard anything else about it.

You are wrong. Newer Russian made AK's are chambered for 5.45mm round.
Except for 100 series, which is not really used as a main battle rifle in the army.

If you get a Scorpion, get ready to cut up a hoslter to make room for its awkward shape.

Back to the point, I used to be obsessed with the makarov (cuz of Ocelot in mgs3) and looked for one all over the internet and all I could find was a pelet makarov (almost exact same mechanism as the ppk at canadian tire) that was sold on a British site...so no your chances are zip of getting one.

I have a WE Baby Hi-Capa 3.8. Does this make me a bad Russian? It seems a generic enough pistol, and actual Russian sidearms are hard to come by in Airsoft.
