Looking for a sidearm.

From my research, I've gathered that the current Russian issue side-arm is Makarov PM. Does anyone know where I can get the airsoft version, or if there even is one?

Alternatly, what can I get away with? I really want a H&K Mk. 23 but I don't know if it will fit with the Russian theme of my AK and so forth.

EDIT: I now know that Hudson makes a GBB Tokarev, but still looking for something else thats easier to get.

Hudson Tokarev TT-33 - a bit hard to get
KSC CZ-75 (czech gun, but you can pass it off in a russian kit as it was a eastern bloc weapon)

you might want to try a Cougar or M1934 (they kinda resemble a Makarov... or at least, the closest thing to it.)

as far as i know there arent any airsoft makarovs out there

for a russian kit you're probably better off with a 1911 or a glock - just try to go for a spetznas kit in order to explain it

I was thinking on going with a kind of Spetznaz thing, but I'm just going to have a stock AK-47 instead of the beta Spetznaz.

Thanks for the help, I'll go find me a CZ!

AFAIK the spetz isin't even a real weapon. Maybe someone who specializes in russian kit can back me up, but I believe that alot of russian SF still use the AK-47 for they prefer the 7.62mm.

So if that is true you should be fine, if not better off with the AK-47 full stock anyways. Its only American SF who HAVE to have a carbine.

actually, they use more updated weapons, the '74, the 100series, 47s are mostly for second-line/police units, but yeah, the beta spets its not a real gun.

looks damn sexy with that beta silencer screwed in though, almost like a vsr - maybe thats what tm wanted to go for and they just forgot to design the silencer?

Dosn't have to be real to be really fucking cool.

I'd much rather have a AKS-74U, but thats gonna be in the future. My dream is a half-dozen AK variants hanging on my wall. :-)

Yeah, I believe the 74 series rifles are in greater proliferation with the Russian government agencies to keep pace with the stupid 5.56mm trend.

You won't find many Eastern Block handguns, they are far and few. And you defenitly won't find any up to date Russian handguns like the MP-4XX series (Same manufacture as Makrovs)
Closest airsoft weapons are
Hudson TT-33 (Which is really a WW2 weapon)
CZ-75 (Czech)
Skorpion (more of a SMG but is still Eastern blockish)
Walther PPK (Close enough to a Makrov)
Most eastern block players will carry a CZ-75 if anything at all. Normal tactics are that Spetsnaz do not usually carry a backup handgun though as that isn't standard practice.

As for primarys Alex is close the more modern 74/AKM with plastic grips are the most common AK's for Spetsnaz units. You will however see a large mix of whatever they feel like, you'll even see a number of older AKM's with folding stocks in the field.

Thanks for all the help. Now my only problem is getting the money to buy a Skorpion and all. I would imagine that 007 or DEA would order it in for me?

I read the review at Arnies on the Skorpion and am intergred.

Try to stay away from the Hudson Tokarev. Hudson makes some crap airsoft guns. The KSC CZ would be your best option if you want a field worthy pistol. I believe they even have a full metal version on WGCs site, any retailer should be able to order it for you.

Unfortunately, full metal KSC CZ is nowhere to be found I've been looking for one for a long time now. There was one sold on ASC, but I didn't see that thread on time.

FYI the AK74 was chambered for 5.45mm

I hear you on the aksu, if you get adventerous it isnt too much to mod a spetz into a decent copy...

Errm,

I'm thinking the Ak74 was developed more because there was a need for it, then to keep up with the trend of smaller caliber rifles. I mean, lets start with some rifling for example!

The bullet used in the Ak47 only go up to a distance of 300 meter. Its more of a advanced war so they need a better caliber so they switched it to the 5.45.
