Onyx 220 charger question
hey I recently bought an Onyx 220 charger and I want to know if it was normal that my battery was getting charged for only 30 mins before all the lcds listed complete.
I was told that I should charge my battery at least 4 hours for the first charge but I have no idea how to set that up. Basically, what my charger does is it charges to peak for 30 mins then goes into trickle charge. I tested my battery when charged for 30 mins and it did not last long at all. Also, I read my manual but it doesn't say anything about a "normal charge." My battery is a 9.6v NiCd. If anyone can clear this up for me that would be great. |

how long your battery charges depends largely on your mah, no battery will be charged after 30min, and usually a battery will get hot, but not hot enough that you cant touch it, plus the onyx 220 has an auto turn off feature that should prevent you overcharging your battery

Well I forgot to mention my battery is 1500 mah. The thing I don't understand is why does the charger stop at 30 mins. I though it would charge for how much charging the battery and then just stop when it was done.
Do you know how im supposed to set it up so i can actually charge it properly? |

I just checked the Duratrax site and it says you can set it to charge from .4 A to 5 A, what setting did you have it on? If it was 30 minutes to "charge" then you probably had it set to charge at 3A (NOT GOOD!).
Do you have a manual included with the charger? Set it to charge at 1.5A and it will take an hour to charge (good setting). It also says that you can program battery charging settings into the charger for up to 5 different packs. Figure out the settings and how the charger works and save the setting, after that you can plug in your battery and "set it and forget it".

yea ok I did have it at 3A but it didn't feel like it was fully charged. So if I set it to 1.5A for an hour then its still probably not enough.
Ill put it lower just because I was told to charge it for 5-6 hours the first time. How long do you normally charge your battery for? |
