Question ICS MP5 (MX5) vs SRC G36C/K

Ok, I've been looking at Mach1Airsoft.. and they have the ICS MP5 (MX5) for 385$..

5$ more than the SRC G36C (Gen III)
20$ less than the SRC G36K (Gen III)

I am now debating between the ICS MP5 and SRC G36K as my first AEG.. they go for around the same price.

From the info I know:

SRC G36 use V3 Gearbox
ICS MX5 use V2 Gearbox
SRC does have a higher FPS around 360 vs ICS MX5 300-330 (I will be playing outside and indoors this summer, 60% outdoors, 40% indoors) (yes, do not flame me, I know what I've been told: FPS doesn't make you better.. I know! But when playing outdoors, something slightly faster might make a bigger difference vs the wind.).

Other than that, I don't really care about battery size, it isn't an issue, I'm not a full auto guy, I take single shots and shoot when it 'hurts' only. spend less than 1000 rounds in a full day.

If I knew I could get the MP5 SD version, I would automatically be won over to the dark side of the MP5's, but from the things I mentioned, what could help me make my choice?

I need a hand in helping me choose.. The MP5 is really interesting because of its solid full metal body, while the SRC has a partially clear lower. And yes, I am waiting to get AV'ed soon, hopefuly withint the 2 following weeks.

I don't want a debate, I just want someone with experience help me with what I should look for in a first AEG (I can't and don't want to spend 500$ on an AEG alone for the moment).

Thank you.

YOU AGAIN lol
I'll just break it into pro's and cons for each gun...
SRC G36C/K
Pro's
-Tough V3 mechbox
-Sutible for both indoors and outdoors
-easy to work on
-High quality nylon fiber constuction(simaler to real steel)
-Good internals
-highly customible if your creative
-Can take M4 mags with magwell converter

Con's
-See through lower(Krylon anyone?)
Not a lot of battery space(Easy fix with this http://www.airsoftextreme.com/store/...oducts_id=3437)
-some people just hate the idea of plastic on a gun...

ICS MP5
PRO's
-Great for CQB can be used effectivly outdoors
-Full metal
-Nice and compact

-good internals

Cons
-V2 mechbox not as strong as V3
-Longer mags
-not a lot of battery space
-might be TOO small

The pro's and con's of each gun balance each other out it's really up to you they would all serve you well, but personally i would go with the G36 variant more verstile for CQB and outdoors with the longer inner barrel and folding stock

No, you don't. Pick whichever gun you like the looks of most.

There's TONS of posts on asc about the advantages and disadvantages of a V2 and V3 mechbox, likewise about the advantages and disadvantages about G36's and MP5's, and likewise about ICS and SRC GIII guns. Do some research on your own, corellate some information, and make your own decision.

You've made a lot of posts in threads asking about the strengths and weaknesses of the different guns. The information is there. You just have to read it.

I tend to think that g36 variants are some of the best to start on. Although I've only had an xm8 and a scar-l, I still stand by it. I sometimes wonder what would have happened if I got a g36 rather than my scar. I'll probably feel better once i've painted it, but I still want to add some rails onto it.

Your gear should be consideed as well. G36 mags are not the easiest things to carry around.

You know? That is the best single line of advice for any newbie airsoft buyer. I like it, well said.

Yup, for sure. And yes, pick what you like.

I just bought my first gun. I was deciding between a SCAR-L and SCAR-H. However, I found out that SCAR-H uses less common mags whereas SCAR-L uses the same mags at M4/M16/etc. Then I had to decide between the ARES SCAR or the VFC SCAR. All guns will have their pros and cons. Just don't skimp out too much and get what looks awesome.

I am not familiar with airsoft.

What my question is, does the element of surprise work on a typical airsoft match?

I plan on picking up an ICS MP5 down the road as my lower FPS gun, but I will get the newer version MX5 A1 with split gearbox so I can also have a separate harder shooting upper gearbox. The other advantage is the ICS MP5's are full metal and the SRC's aren't so I think you'll get a more durable gun. I've seen all the super hi res photo's of the new MP5 split gearbox inside and out and it looks great and very simple to open up and work on.

If I wasn't about to buy a VFC SOPMOD I'd for sure buy the ICS MP5 split gearbox.

Yeah, it does look pretty awesome, but any signs as to when it'll appear here?
