ICS mp5 trouble shooting
I gamed my ICS mp5a5 for the first time tonight and it was good, but there was trouble shooting from time to time. Looks like there was a BB jammed (could see it in the hop-up sort of tunnel through the magwell). Everytime I would dislodge the BB with a rod, put the mag back in but the same thing would happen again. Sometimes, the problem was resolved after taking out the BB though.
Any thoughts? |

check your hopup, your gun may be over hopped

when you pull the mag out that BB you see is just one that was chambered into the hop up and this is normal.
As for the not shooting properly, what exactly was it doing? try and turn your hop up all the way off then (with small adjustments) turn it up and fire it until its shooting nice and strait. If the problem still happens then let us know what exactly its doing

Cool, I'll try adjusting the hop up. As for the BBs, I was usingg some 0.25 somebody gave me (I dont know the brand) and I too thought that was the problem so I emptied my mags and filled them with my usual 0.2 bastards, but nothing changed...

Did the previous owner have the same AEG as you? if not then i would definatly try a different mag brand if he did still might wanna try a different mag just to eliminate that from the list.

yeah he did, they were his AEG and his mags, so I guess he would have known if it was a mag issue, but I'll still try and find one to make sure.

Check to see if you have torn or other wise damaged hop up sleeve. This will usually always lead to the problems you are describing.
Also, make sure that your bucking is set properly in the fact that the opening for the loading of the BBs is perfectly circular and not oval (or misshaped). SHA DO

well now I tried again, setting the hopup in various positions. Nothing. About 1 in 5 BBs come out but they just drop to the ground at the end of the barrel. Battery is fully charged and I use 0.2 bastards.

open your receiver and take out the inner barrel with the hopup unit. look through the inner barrel from the hopup side and see if the hopup rubber is uniform all around. |

I just opened my gun right now and only thing I noticed is that there was a BB just behind the feeding hole in my hopup (no BB when you see through the magwell, but one when you see from behind the barrel(. I dont know if I'm clear on this, difficult to explain, but could this be the problem?
EDIT : no it wasnt. Took it out but there,s the same problem. I tried putting one BB by hand in the hopup hole and fire the gun upside down to look at what happens. And it seems like the BB can,t be pushed forward. I can see the nozzle trying to push the BB but it seems to stop before actually launching the BB (or sometimes it does push it until i cant see it, but no BB come out). What could it be? Do the nozzle looks in good conditions? Is it moving right when you shoot? Could be related to that too.
Also, try to check for the hop up nub, maybe your nub is too tight, or misaligned. But as other said, it may be the sleeve that is ripped. Or misaligned too. |

As stated, probably the sleeve that is damaged. Can also be the barrel clip of the hop-up that is broken, making the barrel move forward 1mm and there comes the air leak. Can also be the nozzle/tappet plate.
We will see tomorrow anyways. |
