Are sorbo Pads worth it?
Im trying to increase the durability and reliability of my gun, I can see how these things would make parts easier on each other but is it true?

Yes

Absolutely. The faster and harder you run, the more impact absorption you want.
I would not build a gun without them.

Sometimes I use them, or silent piston heads. It's good for the gearbox, but it's ultimately your decision on whether or not you think your gearbox needs it.
Right now I'm not using any, primarily because my gun can take it and I don't want to "silence" the gun anymore than it currently is. How about you tell us a bit more about your gun? |

Does it fit in the ICS M4?

sorbo's primary purpose is to help reduce the shock of the piston head slamming into the cylinder head. by absorbing the forces and vibrations, it greatly increases the life of a gearbox especially in a V2. Last edited by coach; July 4th, 2010 at 21:11.. |

I have them for customer use but I don't use them even on my hardball setups (550FPS+ w/0.20 AEG). I run a STS system instead. I have a stock TM gearbox with a STS for my Hardball and it's had ~7k by empty bag count of BBs' through it and not a problem. Thats ~7k rounds of .43 BB's.
In my opinion. I don't feel that there is a sufficient benefit to the average users to warrant the cost of Gun tech services for an install. If you DIY with sorbo sheets and cut your own materials the cost is REALLY cheap. |

Don't go for just the sorbo pad, get the whole ARS cylinder head, they're FANTASTIC.

ARS Cylinder heads are FANTASTIC but ARS piston heads aren't strong enough IMO. Mine broke after about 100 rounds where you put the screw (I didn't use any threadlocker unfortunately).
Maybe it was a lemon though, but most likely a personnal error. I still have the ARS Cylinder head in though

That must have been personal error, I've put the piston heads in over 60 guns now and never had a single one come back broken... not only are the ARS products fantastic, but they also have very good quality control.

Yeah that's what I believe.
Still, the area where the screw goes is only made of plastic, compared to the Modify piston head which is metal in that area. I should buy another one to test it though.

Noob question.
I want to use the full set of Sorbo pads; Cylinder head, Modify Ultra Piston but i was also wondering if i could install the Angel Silent Piston head as well. but the Angel piston head set comes with a Cylinder head(i think). can i use the Sorbo Cylinder head instead? I want to know if there's anything wrong with that so i don't but a 90 dollar part just for the piston head..

Don't bother with the angel stuff... It's good.. but extremely out-dated now.
A MASK piston head with a MASK cylinder head will give you just as much gearbox protection... If you want silence... you could look at a piston head with an airbreak on it. |

Unless you modify the Sorbo pad (which is a waste) they won't work together.
You have to use both the silent piston and cylinder head. Look at the piston head. Notice how the center protrudes? It will not work with a regular cylinder head. |
