If you want an m14 which will perform and give you a no shit attitude towards killing things from a distance. It's TM M14 or bust. Clones of the M14 are -always- shit. Even Classic Army.
ChixSoft sells a lot of low - low- end airsoft guns, so it's impossible to tell the manufacturer unless she tells you. So PM or Email her. In my opinion, what you're doing is wasting a lot of money if you actually want to hit what you're shooting at. |

That M14 is AGM.

I have the SOCOM/Scout version; same graphics on the packaging, so likely the same manufacturer...
Huge disappointment. Upper hand-guard snapped the first time I took it apart for painting. Grossly heavy and ill-balanced. And on semi-auto, every third or fourth BB spits out about 10 feet. I'd likely spend more than I paid for it to make it actually work reliably and accurately.

You must have got a lemon because people that purchased the SOCOM are very happy with it. |

Listen to ShelledPants, don't bother putting money into an M14 unless its a TM. Ive owned many a M14 from a few different companies, and they are all horrible. Bad fit and finish, terrible shimming and even worse in the quality of parts department, if you customize a non Marui M14, you will definitely be dissapointed when it totally fails on you, on the first shot most likely.

Granted, I have a G&G M14 that's not too bad, but I spent about $200 to get it to run efficiently. The M14 is such a nice rifle, one of my favorites all time, Ill work with a shitty one, just because its so bad boy.

Quick side note. When I got the G&G M14 it was quoted 330-350 fps. When I ran it through the chronometer it was shooting 200-225 fps. With a freshly cleaned barrel and a thorough mechanical inspection. The air seal and hop up unit were bunk. The bb hardly made it out of the barrel. It runs well now with a proper hop up, barrel, and high quality bb's.

I have played with a guy that had a G & G M14 Veteran with minimal if any upgrades. That AEG was a beast on the field; outranged pretty much all others that day.

I have the SOCOM version of the M14. It is made by Cyma and is not too bad for a clone.
I put a Guarder SP120 spring in it and it now shoots 425fps. I replaced the battery with an 11.1v LiPo. Rate of fire and trigger response are crazy. |

Thanks for the info on the SOCOM, gentlemen; I figure the big problem is a bad seal around the piston head, resulting in the irregular performance. It's just that right now some of my other guns have more of my love right now, so it gets no attention.
Eventually, it'll get fixed, although I'm rethinking its original goal of sharpshooting, and making it more of a straight "assault" rifle.

The M14 is in a class of its own for pure Bad Boyness when its outfitted properly. Its such a great looking rifle when you put it together just right, even if its not the highest quality money can buy. You should throw a little love at it.
