Besides it being a personal choice for looks most of the shooting you will do will be in ranges that you will not need any magnification. I have a holosight and I purchased a clone 3x magnifier from Huang. I never gamed it like that, looks really though. Just remember that cheap and clone optics won't stay zero'd because of the recoil of the rifle. Hope that helps.

Personal tastes bud, really comes down to what you like best.

For me, I like iron sights. Even on my sniper rifles.

Holosights, avoid the clones it will get Fubar if a real Holo sight is out of your price range tehn go with a red dot sight for a .22 from your local hunting goods store

Irons. I use a plastic CF rear sight on my CQBR. I've also recently added a (clone) PEQ15, and I've zeroed the laser to 75 feet. It's not perfect, but it's application is definitely a pro considering the minimal weight added to the gun.

EDIT: also, I've used real holosights, and they kick ass. If I had the coin, I'd drop some on a 551 / 553, they are easily worth their weight in gold.

What he said.. the cheapest sport red dot is better than the best clone Fakotech.

Iron sights.

Or real steel RDS

Clone magnifier can be used since there aren't any moving parts in it.

If I got a red-dot can you remove the front iron sight? I've seen some that leave it on and some that take it off.

personally, I'd keep the irons as your BUIS in the event you forget to turn your RDS off, or it get fubar'd in the rain. at least you'll still be able to sight your shots.

on my gbbr, I left the irons on and use a clone holo sight (DX 552 clone which works perfectly fine with slight ghosting) you can use either or or both at the same time. both can be zeroed to the same or to different distances. (just remember which is set to what distance sigh...)

I'm pretty new to air soft and I guess zeroing in is my issue...the red dot is lining up right in the center of the front iron sight, but not the top of the iron sight, so to aim I'm looking right at the center of the iron sight and not the tip.

I tried using King Arms Holosights 553 on my WA GBBR but the stupid latches wouldn't stay locked in tight and it was always mounted crooked. It fell off a few times and now does not function...what a waste of $150. Now the Hurricane 556 I recently got fits nicely or come lose.

Would just like to say that the common sentence to appear every time somebody asks about sights "You'll never engage targets in airsoft at ranges where you'll need magnification" is totally wrong. You'll NEVER need magnification to target and shoot at an enemy (like with real guns) yes, but you WILL find magnification insanely usefull for seeing whether or not your bbs are going where they are supposed to. I RARELY accuse people of not calling their hits as I can almost always see my bbs JUST miss the guys, where the players using non magnified optics (or the ones with magnification but dont use their sights) are almost always the guys yelling "WTF CALL YOUR FUCKING HITS!!".

So long story short, magnified sights are insanely usefull and can mean the difference between hitting the guy in 5 shots or 50.

I would go with a 50-70$ tube-type RDS for real guns.

They have a Tasco 30mm RDS for shotguns at Canadian Tire. 5 moa dot, but it works well enough for an airsoft gun.

Especially since you have a CQBR version. Don't expect to take sniper-like shots in the woods...

A magnified scope is always useful, but longer to aim properly. All depends on personal preference in the end. I had a clone EOtech and I can tell you, the 50$ RDS was better than that piece of crap.

I killed one of those with the vibration from my aeg... they aren't really real steal quality IMO, just sold as if they were.
