does the recoil engine make the m4 gearbox die faster cause i want mine to last. infact i am looking for a M4 thats not too expensive and can be fixed easily, i also want it to have RIS.

Pros:
Made by TM (Supposedly a credential for reliability)
Recoil Engine is kinda cool
Looks
Accurate

Cons:
Plastic Body
PROPRIETARY MAGAZINES (Two to chose from)
PROPRIETARY Upgrades (Prometheus makes a few though.)

I believe you should chose a different AEG if this happens to be your first M4.
Id get a Classic Army-VFC-G&P-King Arms; just to name a few.

The recoil engined AEGs are FULL METAL so no con there

The only thing i dont like from them is the propietary battery, although you can change connectors and use a regular Lipo.

Mags arepropietary too, but this is due to the fact that these new "SOPMODs" have a bolt stop feature, this is, you run out of BBs, the gun stops shooting until you insert a fresh mag and push the boltcatch. If you dont care about this feature and want to use regular AEG mags, there are several adaptor to make them usable.

This said, it may be more expensive than other AEGs but for features and performance, these are the next step in AEGs and worth every penny.

Edit:

Gearbox is redesigned and its expected to handle +400FPS with no problem. Recoil takes place in the buffer tube, so it doesnt put stress in the Gearbox

Not all the upgrades are propietary and not only prometheus makes tem, Hornbill in RSOV has gears, nozzles compatible with the gun

I would add "range" to the accuracy statement, a field mate has already done "impossible" kills with his stock sopmod, I havent as im a pretty bad shooter lol

If its your first AEG and are serious to airsoft, go get it, love mine to bits

I bought a SOCOM carbine, which is the same as the SOPMOD but front wired for regular batteries(now using a Lipo) use.

I got it at UNcompany.com when it was 400$ plus shippingnow it is 450$ plus shipping, I got it with a hicap to use it while I save for a mag set and changed tamiya connectors for XT60 ones and ordered a lipo from hobbycity.com

love it =)

The fun with the SOPMOD series is the working boltcatch, so special mags are needed (to engage it) but WGCshop sells adaptors to use regular mags but you loose such feature. My advice is getting a hicap and save for SOPMOD mags

Mine not, its a regular M4A1, you can fit them though but you need a very thin lipo, I have ordered some Rhino lipos to see if I can fit one, if not, firefox sells one which is sure to fit, a bit pricey for my likes.

If you dont need blowback, get a G&P, best bang for the buck among regular AEGs

G&G blowback is just a gimmick, I shot both G&P and G&G and even the G&G shooting decently, the G&P performed better and is a more reliable platform
