New to motors, what is better?

Hey guys, so I'm new to upgrading Motors, never really touched them, or really thought about them. I need a new one for an AK, so I know I need a short style. I'm specifically looking for better trigger response, so I believe I need the high-torque ones. So my question that I can't seem to find the answer for, is which of these is more cost-effective and better for what i want? I'm looking at the G&P M140 short style motor, and the Matrix Magnum. If I understand right, the magnum is like a combo of a highspeed and torque motor, but I've heard that matrix doesn't make the best internal stuff. G&P however, I've heard are pretty good. So anyone ever compare the two, or have good or bad experiences?

I've heard good things about the Guarder Infinite Torque motor apparently it's pretty cost effective so good if you're on a budget and pretty good quality:

I have the M140. Haven't installed it yet, but it comes with different connectors.

I know nothing about soldering so I can't install the old style ones.

I have the g&p m120 and I think it burned out with the g&p m120 mechbox and ASCU installed. Going back to the old faithful eg1000

I'm a big fan of the Guarder Infinite Torque motor. Combine that sucker with a set of torque-up gears and even with an 8.4V battery you have a snappy trigger response that almost feels like shooting a GBB instead of an AEG. And it's a fairly cost-effectve motor as well.

If you're willing to splurge a bit, the Systema Magnum motor is pretty amazing. It's got better torque than the Guarder and higher speed as well. It's a worthy motor.

Now, this may make a lot of people cringe, but one of my preferred motors is the JG high torque motor - the one that was introduced in their HK 416 2 years back and now comes with their after-market mechboxes. I don't care what anyone says, I've got 2 of these in 2 of my AEGs and these little motors are badass. They crank a spring-heavy mechbox over like nobody's business. I had a TM EG1000 in my custom MP5. Was nice, but laggy response. I now rock that JG motor in it and it's amazing on an 8.4V battery. With a 9.6, it's just purely insane.

Systema Magnums and turbos are energy hogs. They drain your batts like crazy. Furthermore they are extremely loud and pop fuses regularely.
Guarders are loud
G&P is loud
JG varies from "eras" their earlier stuff was loud and energy hogs. Their newer stuff isnt too bad, but still not on par to TM.

That's funny, my G&P M160 is silky smooth and fairly quiet. My EG700 is loud and squeely regardless of how I adjust the motor height.

As far as airsoft motors go, it seems that most brand's quality depends on what time of day the motor was made....
I've heard good and bad things about G&P motors, good and bad about TM, good and bad about guarder, and lots of bad about magnums.
But of course, lots of people have no idea what to look for in a motor.
Guges actually put up a thread with information on some motors on the dyno. Apparently the ARES motor is really good.
My G&P motors were great after they got tuned up, and I've never had a problem with the TM EG700's running with triggermaster SW-COMPs. (SW-COMP's make motor inefficiency REALLY apparent)

But of course, if it's a used motor, it might have been damaged in the gun it was in. I lent a buddy of mine a tuned up G&P M120 that ran great. He brought it back and it had a bent armature, sparked like CRAZY and ate through batteries....

I'd still recommend a TM EG700 though, I know from experience they are usually pretty good and can handle high fps no problem.

Spring doesn't matter as long as you have the right gears.
I had to sub out my G&P M120 for an EG700 in my M4. Shooting 400 fps I didn't lose any ROF, but I'm running double torque gears.

The pinion gear has definitely seen better days. I'll eventually replace it and see if its any less squeely.

With a hi-torque gear-set and 400+ spring (Guarder infinite torque tune-up kit) my Aug's semi isn't "snappy". It's on deans and a 9.6v I'm thinking the next step is to change the stock TM motor but I can't find any info on which way to go.

Am I supposed to match a hi-torque gear-set with a high-torque motor or use a high-speed motor to turn the hi-torque gears faster?

torque motors arent necessarily slow, they just have more power.

You can just as easily use a torque gearset and a torque motor to get excellent ROF.
Torque motors can push 440fps on standard ratio gears with the right battery no problem, it's just a matter of the right combo.
But I'd recommend getting a torque motor. Having more torque usually allows the motor to run closer to it's max RPM.

Its kinda like a 3 way Triangle, you have to balance it out to get the most optimum efficiency.
