how much oil for a tank of propane?
If I were to be putting oil right into the tank, how much do you think would be enough for the whole tank?

I dont recommend putting oil directly in the tank.
Between the tank and the adaptor, i put 2-3 drops for every 5-6 mag fills.

You realize the majority of the oil will all spurt out in the first few fills, basically spewing oil, causing your hop up and IB to become oily and ineffective right?
Theres a reason we do it every 5-6 fill instead of all at once.

Well, the principal is the same as green gas. The oil is already in the can and you get a small amount every fill. I don't see how doing it this way would be any different. Just give the propane bottle a good shaking before refilling so not all the oil is at the bottom and should be ok.

When filling propane, one traditionally puts it upsidedown. Causing the oil to pool at the bottom. putting that much oil in, regardless of viscosity, will cause a large glob of oil to shoot out.

He's injecting it straight into the propane bottle to provide a more consistent amount of silicone to each fill and make it so it is not necessary to oil so often.
Madmax had a prototype that did exactly this (worked extremely well), but never marketed it because it was dangerous (people could inject other things which may not react safely). edit: it works with Green Gas, the oil doesn't all shoot out at the beginning. Green gas = propane + silicone oil. (sometimes just pure propane) Last edited by Kid; November 13th, 2010 at 15:17.. |

Agreed, Nooblord, you shouldn't be allowed to change the batteries on a TV remote never mind play with things that have springs or compressed gasses

seems to work well so far, after the mag fill and overflows, it leaves a very thin oil film, so i know that the oil got into the gas
so much easier than oiling the mags individually doesnt the liquid oil just mix and diffuse into the liquid propane? |

Propane tanks are not supposed to be inside closed areas. Having a propane tank in your house (regardless of if its the cause or not) is enough to void yours and everyone else's (Neighbors) home insurance.
