AEG (Batterie) Or BlowBack (gas) for a FIRST gun
What is the best for a first gun ?
Electric ( AEG ) or gas gun ? For exemple I currently check for KWA M4A1, I see this in AEG on some website, and BlowBack ( KJW M4 ) on some other ... what do you recommend for a newbie ? PS... I am gonna be AV, I am just waiting that SHaKaL have the time to come see me near Trois-Rivieres ... Also... I am a newbie ... so If you know a Game where I can go with a minimum of stuff ( BDU + google ) and maybe rent or lent a Gun to somebody, it will be cool. I already check in the Quebec Section, and there is no game schedule right now ... Last edited by elmathy; January 14th, 2011 at 23:05.. Reason: Added " for a first gun " |

AEG. Its not even a question. check out the FAQs, they can say it better than I ever could. Price, reliability, long term survivability, performance. AEG wins in all those categories.

agreed.. AEG for starters. GBBRs can get quite pricey too.

Definitely AEG for a first gun. GBBR's are nice, and more realistic behaving then an AEG. But they're more complicated to care for, and very pricey, not only the gun but the mags as well. Run an AEG for at least a year, learn how everything works, then maybe you can consider changing to a GBBR.
Personally, considering the temperature issues plus mag cost plus increased maintenance requirements, I don't think I'll ever get one. My AEG is realistic enough for me, works in any reasonable temperature and the mags are dirt cheap.

Once the season starts up the games should start getting posted up. Also if there's local club/regional forums check those out as well, sometimes games will be posted there and not here. As for what to get, AEG hands down (unless you're talking about Electric Blow Back..... which sucks a lot). GBBR is fun but the stories about people dumping $1500 plus the cost of the GBBR kind of puts me off on them right now. Not to mention they still sometimes fail and having a design that you know will work 99.99% of the time (AEG) and has been built/developed over a long period of time gives you something that you can switch to if your gun is DOA on the field or fails in the first hour or two of the day. So, AEG right now then GBBR later when you can scrounge up the money for it. Hell even if you get a Kraken or Broxa then a GBBR that's a pretty good bet since you'll have something "fun" to play with (the GBBR) and if it fails/breaks in the middle of the day you can at least switch to your backup AEG.

My advice, get both, aeg first of course, less can go wrong with them and mags are WAY cheaper, GBBR is more fun, more realistic, fails more and doubles in cost when you buy enough mags to use them.
