VFC AK-74 Disassembly/Spring Swap
Hey,
I just got a SafeSoft VFC AK-74N and I would like to downgrade the spring. The spring is locked half back, and the gun just clicks whenever I attempt to shoot it. That said, whats the proper procedure for disassembling the VFC AK-74N and swapping in a new spring? The offering of YouTube walkthroughs is not very helpful. Thanks in advance for any and all help! Take off the flashhider, remove ak cleaning rod.
Take off dust cover, then pull the "lever" on the side of the gas block up towards the rear sight. Hold it up, and pull up on the upper grip, should come off fairly easy. Bottom grip has a small lever inside, pull that up towards the barrel. Remove bottom grip. Push the top-cover button back, and remove spring assembly from bolt. Pull bolt back and remove. Twist and remove selector switch "screw" (looks like a button) , then the actual selector switch. Remove pistol grip via small screw at bottom. Remove L shaped block from hop-up unit, and then the two screws securing hop-up unit to body. ( Either side of hop-up assembly ) You should now be able to push the entire hop-up assembly forward in order to free the nozzle from your hop-up unit, and can gently pull mechbox from the body. From there, open up the gearbox, change the spring and do everything in reverse. * Not all steps needed for gearbox removal, but would be useful to know* |

Figured out how to remove it, moving on...
How do I remove the nozzle from the hop up unit? The half-extended nozzle is stuck forward in my hop-up, and I consequently cant take out the gearbox. I had this same sort of problem earlier with my CA36 (fixed it by using a 9.6v), but I have a 9.6v on me right now and its not cycling the spring. -Screw it, I'll give it to someone who knows what they're doing. I put that in my explanation...
There should be two small screws securing the hop-up block down. If you remove these, you should be able to push the entire barrel and hop-up assembly forward enough( there should be a spring pushing against the gas block to offer tension ) to free the nozzle. |

Yes, you are 100% correct. However, the nozzle is halfway forward and there isn't enough room to clear the hopup.
