Changing Inner Barrel in ICS L86A2
I changed the inner barrels on all of my AEGs without issue, but this thing is made differently and I want to make sure I don't break anything. I can't find info on the subject, so if anyone has any experience on changing the inner barrel on an ICS L86A2 (or L85 I guess because they are very similar) let me know.
Thanks. |

I changed for a TB on the L85 without any problem...
I just followed the exploded view at the end of the booklet: -remove the four screws in the lower left corner of ML-04 red square to remove the hop-up and outer barrel from the upper receiver -then the 2 left screws in ML-07 red square to slide out the hop-up and inner barrel Never worked on the L86 though. The handguard might complicate things up. Let us know how things work out

Followed tour instructions and it worked quite well, however the new inner barrel is longer and I am kissing velocity, am I getting a backdraft form the piston cycling?

How much longer?
I'm no gundoc but I thought you had to change the cylinder sizing if you increased significantly inner barrel length... Fong

about 10 cm longer (it goes out to about 70% of the flash hidder)

10 cm or 10 mm? 710 mm or 620 mm total?
If its 710 mm total, I guess it counts as a significant increase -> other mods needed otherwise, an additional 10 mm should not be a problem (I think...) Have you changed the hop-up rubber and done the teflon tape trick on it? I had major leaks with the original ICS rubber. Fong

Hmm... on icsbb.com it says barrel length is 610 mm.
What was the original barrel length? On my L85, I got a funky 480 mm IB when it should have been a 509 mm... Teflon trick = just taping the end of the rubber with teflon tape (white thin plumbing tape). It's not magic and efficiency is doubtful but sometimes it seems to help. So all in all, change the rubber before anything else. Should help a lot if you still got the original one. Fong

Found my issue, it seems I had ordered a PSG1 version of the barrel instead of the AEG. The PSG-1 has a flat surface near the hopup hole, which leaks massive amounts of air. Ordered the AEG version.
Now I need to buy a PSG-1 to go with that nice inner barrel :-P |

L-86 barrel changing
newbie ... can i convert a l86 to a shorter l85 and back and fourth quickly ...that would be great... short for cbq long for other battles. Just wondering.

Define «quickly»? 2 minutes or 15 or 1h?
In order to do so, you would need the outer barrel, the handguard (unless you want the carbine version) and maybe another few pieces... Not trivial but doable. BrokenBird: which barrel did you used finally? and where did you get it? I'm considering getting the L86 as well. Fong
