Odd question about screws

awhile ago i bought a MP5K RIS for my gun and it worked great but in order to change the battery you have to remove the RIS...

This has caused the machine screws to slowly wear and now ive only got 3 out of 6 screws left so it dosnt hold together so well. Now i need to know if anyone knows where i can get machine screws for this as noone in my area carries the screws they appear to be 4-48 5/8's machine screws with nut and this is the smallest screw you can get in 4's and nothing larger works (ive tried both 4-40 and 6-40 to see if they would fit) So im hoping someone know where i can get these at a decent price as i cannot seem to find anywhere that carries them. I really dont want to buy a whole new RIS but i may end up having to if i cant find the screws.

I know its an odd question but ive been trying to get them locally and online for 2 weeks and cannot find a place so far.

maybe just get some tiny black bolts and then put nuts on either end.

lol qlong how did you find this store? Ive been looking and found bolt supply but not fastenal I contacted them and they are looking

Hey ross, The machine screws use nuts. They are screws because they are inset to keep the from interfereing with the ris itself.

I go to this place all the time, it's one of my favorite places, lol.

Fast friendly service, they have an extremely large inventory of hardware/fasteners, best of all it's a walk-in store.

Hmm, are you sure they're not metric screws? Nearly everything in airsoft is, I've found. 4-48 threading is nearly identical to a M3X0.5 thread. 5/8" length is about 16mm; I'd try a M3X0.5 X 16mm screw.

fastenal. Every time I go in it's "We don't have it in stock, but we can get it for tomorrow" I'm always stunned they don't have simple bolts... M10x1.25 Anything they don't stock...

Brafasco always tells me "That's an automotive bolt, we don't carry anything automotive" I'm always saying "It's a standard flange head bolt.. what DO you have?" and they show me a grade 3 hex head -.-

Spaenaur on the other hand... "I need an M10x1.25 50mm length", then the hottie at the counter runs to the back, and comes out with what I need.

As for machine screws, RONA or Home depot carry a small selection.

And +1 for the metric idea. It's not practical to use fairy tale fasteners in a design.

Brafasco is my go-to - though their hours suck nowadays since they became HD Supply owned...

I went to fastenal and talked to the guy the machine screws I had were definitly not metric but he checked the m3 anyway and they fit perfect on the ris better than the ones that came with it so i now have m3 hex at 5/8 which are very nice! I bought a bunsh extra (Took entire stock)lol
