Airsoft Sig 550, what to get?

Basically, I want the above but in airsoft.

Metal receiver is a must, no budget restrictions at this time.

I like the looks of the G&G SIG 550 Max, but know next to nothing about high end airsoft rifles. What other options are out there in the style of rifle I'm looking for?

Thanks,
Ar180shooter

(FYI the above rifle is mine. It's a Swiss Arms Classic Green with a Trijicon ACOG TA31F)

G&G probably makes the best Sig 55X on the market today, the only other ones to really consider would be the ICS and the TM.

The TM internals are very solid but it has a plastic receiver and is somewhat creaky. It would be both expensive and difficult to find a metal receiver for the TM.

ICS makes a good Sig but they only make the 551 & 552. The mags are proprietary and a little difficult to find but you can easily modify TM compatible mags to work.

You get also look into Jing Gong, ICS, or Marui for the 550 line. The Marui line being difficult to find because it's discontinued. ICS has some compatibility issues with mags and such, check out some of my other posts for details. JG I hear is hit or miss, but it's essentially a Chinese Marui clone. The Marui is plastic though, so you can rule that out. For the amount of money you'd pay for a metal JG in Canada, just buy an ICS or GG. If you don't mind the long 30 round mags (high caps, also), then the ICS is fine, and much cheaper.

Edit, actually I think ICS only makes the 551 as a long length.

I'm going to assume you know the "Get AV'ed" spiel so I won't bother with that.

If the 550 is what tickles your fancy I'd say go G&G. Note that there may be 2 springs inside the box when you get it. Change out the springs when you get it. Otherwise you'll be shooting too hot for most fields/games. That us unless you lock the rifle to single shot only and use it as a DMR (NB: only some game hosts allow this and it will always be outdoor games only. Check local field rules prior to running your gun as to what the energy/speed rules are).

G&G without a doubt.... and get the TM locap mags.
I also have a Swiss Arms Black Special.....and I have a G&G SIG550 and a G&G SIG552.
They are as close as you can get to identical....and they are great.

There is a very extensive review of the G&G Sig in this site, you may want to check it out.

Lol this is partially true.

To the OP, yes get the G&G. It's more expensive, and there's a reason for that.

Maybe this is the gun nut in me, but how's the trigger?

Also, what kind of accuracy can you expect from one of these?

You mean trigger pull? An airsoft gun's trigger is nothing like a real gun so you can't really compare.
Accuracy, you can expect to hit a man-sized target at 100 or 150 ft.

Also it must be said, but I assume you're not going to try to order one from outside Canada.

Ok, thanks.

As for ordering from outside Canada, no I'm not planning to. I'm actually in the firearms retail business, so I have a decent grasp on import/export laws and regulations.

Oh, also can the G&G Sig 550 take an aftermarket top rail? Is there a cheaper Airsoft one made or do I have to buy another B&T top rail for it.

I believe you can get the Marui one off of airsoftparts.ca for about 35 dollars.
