High FPS doesn't matter if you have crap compression. If you have great compression you can out range, high FPS aeg's.

If you aren't age verified and can't use google, wer won't tell you where to get an airsoft gun. Also don't get a high cap.

... What the hell is the Rec MAX? My understanding was that the Rec AK represented pretty much their lowest of the low, whilst the MAX tended to be somewhat better.
Anyway, I'd hazard a guess that you're a paintballer, or were at some point, yes? Few things. 1. We sadly cannot help you on where to buy AEGs until you are age verified. If you are eighteen or older, look up an age verifier in your area (shouldn't be too hard, I think Alberta has a decent spread of them) and take ten minutes out of your day to go meet them. Then everything opens up to you and you have access to much better guns and all the assistance you could ever need. 2. If the 'Rec MAX' is anything like their 'Rec Wood', my own personal opinion would be to stay the hell away. I foolishly bought one of the latter before I was AVed, because I was impatient. The gears exploded after a dozen shots, the surplus store I bought it from refused to refund me, and now I'm stuck with a five hundred dollar paperweight that I should've only paid two fifty for. 3. Have seen a few people use the G&G UMP and they've seemed decent enough. 4. You ask for a big highcap now, but you will come to hate them in time. It is not the same load-it-and-forget-it philosophy as a hopper. Welcome to the boards bud, get AVed, be respectful (above all LISTEN to what people say... we get a lot of people who ask for advise only to stubbornly ignore it) and I'm sure you'll love it here. |

If you want a recommendation, stick with an M4/M16 as they are easiest to upgrade and there are tons of people in the community who can help you when you have trouble. As for websites, if we were to show you one, you would know where to purchase it, there for we would be breaking the rules.

Don't take that question the wrong way, I was a paintballer before airsoft, too.
As a matter of course we tend to state the same thing (get av'ed, we can't tell you where to buy, etcetera) when it comes to members that aren't age verified, at least to start off. That's just the rules. Anyway! Alright, you're seventeen, so you can't very well get AVed. I've offered what limited help I can on which gun I'd recommend, and that's about all I can do. To my knowledge, the UMG is a decent pick if you've got to go with lower end G&G stuff, so it should probably serve you well enough, at least until you're eighteen. What, you thought joining the military would make airsoft no fun? We have lots of CF members and vets who would likely disagree with you. Best of luck whatever you do, play safe and all that jazz, and it'd be cool to see an AV tag under your name in about a year. |

Yeah, I was out at xtremetactics looking for a Echo1 Redstar Covert which they do not carry. I spoke to Jess actually there, friendly and very informative guy. Went back home to the drawing board, and am looking at the G&G UMG now, I'm just curious as to why buyairsoft.ca has a 400+ FPS version, I don't see it listed anywhere, did they swap out the stock gearbox for something else?
Also, I was talking to my bro and he said that in Canada, all the guns have to have the smoke/translucent body... Yet, when I was at Xtremetactics, they carried mostly all black bodies and metal ones as well... So is it legal/illegal? Or is it just policy crap that hasn't become legislation just yet? |

Smoked/Translucent receivers are for guns that shoot under the 430fps limit and are deemed toys that cannot cause bodily harm. Metal/Full black is for guns that shoot over 430fps and are deemed unregistered firearms thus are legal to own and sell to the general public without a license. Guns that are full black/metal that shoot below the 430fps limit are deemed replica firearms and are illegal to sell but not too own. |
