Success with Bravo RDW / DBoys PDW / VFC KAC PDW Part Interchangeability
Hi guys,
I posted this on Airsoft Mechanics as well, but I wanted to make a note of it here in case anyone else is dealing with the same gun. I've recently had some success in sourcing a rather special replacement part from a Chinese knockoff gun (DBoys) of a Taiwanese original (VFC). The knockoff/clone gun in question is a Bravo RDW / DBoys PDW (same gun, different trades/packaging), and the original is the VFC KAC PDW. I have the clone. I lost the triangular plate (VFC calls the part "PDW-24, Clip") that came with my RDW that holds in the receiver pin, seen in this picture: I asked around and someone suggested I could perhaps try the VFC part. I looked up the PDW manual on the VFC site, and found an exploded diagram of the gun's parts. I then emailed VFC about whether they could send me the PDW-24 part. A lady named Janet replied to me in a couple hours, and said they could bill me via PayPal to the email address I was using. I agreed, and in under 5 minutes received the bill. A couple weeks later, I got a package from Taiwan. The part fits perfectly. Total cost: 6 bucks. I'm thinking of trying this again with the selector plate that comes with the VFC PDW gearbox. I just received a pair of AWS Raptor FETs, which require modification of the selector plate. The PDW has a non-standard metal selector plate that fits over top of the ambidextrous mode selector circular plate/gear. I don't want to risk my original so I was thinking of securing a backup first. If I do this I'll report back on my success here. (In case anyone is wondering, some other folks have reported success with modifying the VFC PDW's metal selector plate for use with the AWS Raptor).
