Where can i play airsoft in southern Ont
I currently live in hamilton, and was wondering where i could play airsoft in the summer. I have the guns, though i am 15. I've played in several tournaments in other provinces and was wondering if there was an age limit here. Is there any way i could get a parental waiver?

Some fields will let 16-17 year olds play with parent or guardian playing tied to their hip but not all. No fields allow 15 year olds. There are no airsoft tournaments in canada. Last edited by AngelusNex; December 29th, 2011 at 09:23.. |

There are places where people can play in Hamilton but none are accessable to 15yr olds. How far are you from your 16th. Then if a guardian is willing to come out and play with you/us we may let you play.

Forget it, you will never win.
Not without a montage.

Yeah they are held once every 7 airsoft wars. People from across the land come play with their airsofts and some even shoot using powerful snipers. Without exception, whoever brings the highest fps gun wins, heck, last tournament I saw the guy who won shot 927fps, guy in second place only shot 910. His clips only held 500 rounds.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to turn on my XBox so I can review my training materials for my next airsoft tournament.

There are pretty amazing and quite large games being held in your area very regularly, which my crew and myself have been coming down from Toronto to attend. Great people, great fields. Hamilton is kind of a hotspot for good games in the GTA right now. Having said that, you're in a kind of bind for two reasons: 1) You're 15 so you'll need to essentially strap your parents to your tactical vest for the moment and hope that the game organizers really like what they see in terms of maturity and following the rules. Your chances of getting respect are very high if you come with the appropriate safety gear (goggles, face mask in particular -- a paintball mask is perfect), and above all, call your hits like your life depends on it. 2) It's the winter season which means the games going on right now in Hamilton are a bit more focused on hardcore players and have generally shifted to being more invitational lately. This is generally because the organizers are volunteering their time (after field rental costs and "free" food costs there ain't much if any profit) and do not want to also serve as a baby-sitting service. Players who show up really need to be on their extra-honourable behaviour at all times or they get kicked to the curb. My advice is that none of these two things should stop you from trying to attend so as long as you can dig that we're looking for seriously mature and responsible players. You don't need to be hardcore and have an expensive gun or gear, just the right attitude. I personally can't tell you who to contact since it requires AV, but perhaps one of the organizers, who has children around your age, could be watching this thread...

While there are 'mature' under-18's, they tend to be few and far between.. and us sour old farts generally don't like playing on the same field with unsupervised teenagers... it often results in too much aggravation upon our sparsely available quality fun-time. Airsoft tournaments? That's a new one on me.. |

Luckily, MaciekA is a good man and has provided you with the information you need to get started in this sport despite your age. Don't take it for granted. |

Once the summer comes my advice, ask everytime you see a game you can play in, sure most of the time its a no, but you might get lucky! Just remember be respectful and patient, that goes a long way here!

Hey Clevland. I am one of the lucky ones helping put together the games at SOF. I really appreciate MaciekA and a few of the others stepping in on the support here. They are all correct and perhaps if you want you can PM me on this subject. Dave who is the main organizer of the games, GFH, is pretty good for this this and we have had a few younger guys like yourself in the games. It all comes down to making sure we meet with your parent or guardian when you show up for conscent. There are several safety rules we will need to pass on to you and again this will be confirmed with your parent guradian. Most of the games have players between 19 and 40, but we do have some with the odd younger guy like you. Ironically we have only had one issue at our games in the last 10 weeks, however that had nothing to do with a younger kid, but rather a team that showed that needed an education on calling hits. They have not returned, and since then I would be shocked to hear if there is any feedback other than what you read here on the games at SOF. You will find the people at our games might be very geared up, but many like me, have kids, and/or remember we were new to this game once as well, and I am certain you will be treated with absolute respect. If you have any another questions on games/or gear for this spring let me know. Keep you chin up! |
