Help with WE Hi-Capa 5.1 A Dragon
I just bought a WE Hi-Capa 5.1 propane pistol and I am having an issue with the hammer. When the slide goes back, sometimes it wont slide back into place because the hammer is blocking it. I have to manually pull the slide back further and push it forward to fire again. I noticed that when i pull the hammer back, it will stay back, but it can go about another half a centimeter further down, it just doesn't stay there.
Heres pictures: The first picture shows the hammer cocked back. The second picture shows me pushing the hammer down a bit more. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/67ynquizx...321_160245.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/sh/5wfk9jgr3...321_160249.jpg Thanks a lot for looking at my problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

mine did the same thing.. i filed down the hammer so that the slide comes back by itself( i used to get stuck on the hammer and not come back to fire ready position after blowback).. works great now..

I can't really tell if it is a Cansoft version or if it's full metal....
Did you notice that the hammer has started to sit higher when cocked? That could mean that if you have a Cansoft frame, it could have started cracking....take the slide off and look for cracks. Anyways...I had the same problem with it. I lubed my gun. I also had to change my Cansoft midframe. As for the second thing...I don't think that means anything, but I'm not sure. Mine does the same thing...

Yes I am noticing a little cracking, but nothing major. Is there any way to repair small cracks. Or do i need to replace the whole bottom piece?

You need to replace that entire bottom piece. Ideally you'd replace it with a metal lower. You can't replace metal with plastic without compensating for the reduction in durability... so the entire idea of plastic lowers baffles me.

woodrow, here's a really short term solution that I somehow came up with.
You see that little nub where the hammer lands on every time? Eventually, that is going to crack so much that it basically falls off. What I did was take the gun apart, smooth out the side where it cracked off from and now, instead of hitting the frame, the hammer hits the slide. I'm not really sure if that's good for the gun though....so do this at your own discretion.

Ok, I'll try that, and filing down the hammer a bit. I live in BC and I am not sure where I can get a replacement bottom piece.
Thanks a lot for the help guys |

Hi-Capas weren't meant for plastic lowers.....unlike Glocks and possibly P226s.....I know someone who had a P226 Cansoft and never had to replace the damn frame yet.

And as you may or may not not know, TM's don't break very often. |

TM's really only break due to negligence.

Does anybody know where I can get a new bottom piece? There are several cracks in the plastic that are making me nervous now. I live in BC.

If it was recently bought, you could possibly contact your retailer for a new replacement mid frame, but that would only last as long as this one....which I assume isn't very long.
Not sure if metal mid frame is available in Canada...I heard about someone on this forum selling it, but I don't remember...

If you get another clearsoft frame it will just crack again. Clear/translucent plastic is just too brittle. Full black plastic is far more durable.
I don't recommend sinking further cash into a WE cansoft. Play it until it dies and then buy a better pistol. I speak from experience - I have two WE dragons, one is sitting in a ziploc bag in pieces and the other has a badly cracked frame. I have since moved on to kwa. |

The bottom piece on mine is full black plastic, the rest is metal, and I only spent $50 on the gun. It seems to perform well despite the cracks. I guess if it does eventually break its not a big loss. but a cheap replacement piece would be nice if I do need it. I'm not looking to spend a lot on a sidearm that usually isn't needed in games.

Well, I took the gun apart to clean it out and check that it was all ok. Turns out some of the plastic parts in the grip of the gun have disintegrated, making it impossible to re-assemble. If anyone knows where I can buy a new bottom piece that would be great. It's that or a new gun.
